Friends,
A quick one. I’m writing this from a welcome pause in the steady stream of sun and warmth that’s been delivered to the PNW of late. I’m not ready for autumn just yet, but a brief intermission of showers and light grey is going down nicely.
Just as the showers rolled into the Greater Vancouver area, chance nudged me towards a recent Blindboy Podcast episode where our lad digs in and waxes on the idea of petrichor—that very particular scent that accompanies the first rain after a long dry spell. As I imagined Blindboy breathing in the petrichor way over in Limerick, I was breathing in the local version myself, and thinking of everyone doing the same, wherever you may be.

According to the forecast, the clouds will break and release another good dose of summerness in time for the opening of the latest edition of 100 Amigos, which kicks off the greater Astro Arts Festival on Friday (Tonight!) If you’re around, come through. Our family will be well represented, with new 12”×12” pieces by Tristesse and our cousin Tsui Xiao Rui. Our pal Sandeep Johal1 will also have a new piece in the show along with 97 other artists. It’s always a great variety of work and a guaranteed good party.
I mentioned being heads-down migrating and expanding my website in the last newsletter and—while there are always more things to build and refine—I’m happy to say this phase is launched and live.
Before I run: Here’s a playlist I pulled together to mark the time, place, and current atmospheric friction. At the centre of it is beautiful music from friends Jeremy Shaw and Konrad Black, pulled from the recent release of Phase Shifting Index on PAN. The vinyl release of this is a stunning object and a pleasure to play. I hope you enjoy the mix.
Summertime is indeed still here—don’t let it slip through your fingers.

Until next time…
