Transmission 01
Preface: I’ve become increasingly disenchanted with all the obvious ways to share and discover things that bring me delight. Way back, I managed a Tumblr, then a blog, followed by a mishmash of social media platforms. Finally–all but giving up–I’ve reduced my output to very occasional drips on a less and less satisfying version of Instagram.
As a reader, I've returned to email newsletters over the past few years to insulate from the chaos, ads, algorithmic interference and general crazy-making inherent in other spaces. I’ve found newsletters (of the non-transactional variety) offer a great place for inspiration. The ability to dial back and carefully select the array of voices and publications has been refreshing.1
Maybe you find yourself feeling the same way? If so, I invite you to join me in this experiment. I don’t know where this newsletter will go but at the minute, I envision dispatching occasional collections of current inspiration, discoveries and recommendations. Things that have brought me moments of delight. A little less algorithm, a little more good old-fashioned quirky human taste. If I’m working on something new, I’ll be sure to share bits about that too.

For most of this reading, I use Newsletterss app, not only to prevent my email inbox from getting too noisy but also to separate business from pleasure. Certainly not essential, but it’s helpful when one subscribes to more than a handful of lists.
