My goal for this newsletter is to provide a regular plain-language summary of what has happened in the Oxford Street Education/Croft School bankruptcy, and to flag key deadlines and dates. This issue covers filings from July 16 through July 23, 2026.
It has been a mostly quiet week. Going forward, I won't feel compelled to write every week if there is no news, but I will continue to write when things happen in the bankruptcy.
The deadline to file a Proof of Claim is now about three weeks away. If Oxford owes you money (for a deposit, prepaid tuition, or anything else), you should get your claim on file. On the docket, the court finished ending the lease for the last Providence building.
Key dates & deadlines
- August 14, 2026 — Deadline to file a Proof of Claim
- August 19, 2026, 9:30 a.m. — Continued Meeting of Creditors (questioning of Oxford)
Three weeks left to file a Proof of Claim
A Proof of Claim is the form you file to say "the school owes me money, and here's how much." If you think you're owed something — for example, prepaid tuition or deposits — that form is how you get in line.
The deadline is August 14. At the July 14 Meeting of Creditors, the trustee urged everyone owed money to file early, to avoid any last-minute problems. If you plan to file, there is no reason to wait. I walked through how to file, step by step, in Issue #4, including how our own family filled out the form for prepaid tuition. You can file online through the court's electronic claims site. Nothing in that guide is legal advice, and while you do not need a lawyer to file, you should consult your own if you have questions.
Interesting Claims
I do not want to cover every claim made in the bankruptcy, but I do want to feature two that may be of interest to the community:
- Camber Road Partners filed a claim for $390,592.28 for debt owed on an equipment lease. The attached lease documents show it covered a tremendous amount of equipment — everything from computers, to HVAC equipment, to tables and chairs.
- John (Jack) Remondi, a member of Oxford's Board of Managers, filed a claim on July 20 for $500,000 that he lent to Oxford. The loan is documented in a promissory note dated September 1, 2025. Under the note, Oxford agreed to pay 15% annual interest, in payments twice a year, with the full $500,000 due on September 1, 2029. The note states it ranks senior to all of Oxford's other debt, present or future, except a Leader Bank loan and future commercial bank financing. It also states that if the note went unpaid past its due date, Remondi would receive ownership units in Oxford in addition to continued interest.
What got filed this week
Rescheduled Meeting of Creditors
On July 22, the trustee filed notice that the continued Meeting of Creditors is now officially set for August 19 at 9:30 a.m. over Zoom.
The court ended the lease for the last Providence building
After a hearing on July 21, the court granted the trustee's request to end the lease for the 144 Wayland Avenue building in Providence, covered in Issue #4. The lease is rejected effective July 1, 2026.
