Closing Thoughts

Really excited about the progress we’re making. In the last few weeks, we’ve hit our stride. Matt, Sandy and the rest of the product team are doing a great job. Timing couldn’t be better as we move into our 1099 and QBO work.

The sales and marketing side is also heating up. We added three good leads this week for new companies with high 1099 numbers. And with the new site coming soon, we’ll be on track to hit our two by 200 this year.

I was thinking this week about a conversation I had with Nathan Kotny a few years ago. He had launched a few Y Combinator companies as well as headed up HighriseCRM for the Basecamp guys. Here are the highlights from our chat:

Keep momentum
There’s nothing more important than momentum. Work hard to get it and fight like hell to keep it.

Use origin stories
People are fascinated with beginnings. Think about your favorite movies. Don’t most of them involve where a character starts? Be sure to share the origin of yourself, product or organization.

Have as many conversations with customers as possible
It may not be scalable to speak with all of your customers. Doing it as much as possible will help you keep a pulse on your business and stay connected to the people who matter.

Use the product
Eat your own dog food. Use the product so you can have more empathy for your customers.

These are all things we know but are behooved to remember.

Ever,
David
