✷greetings ✷
i hope this finds y'all well. the rainy season has begun in washington, and i'm really feeling the weather in an unfortunate way. this month has been kinda wild, i've been stocking for the holiday rush and being horrified at the money going out of my bank account to prepare lol. it's been difficult to sit down and write between work and my brain/body not cooperating, but there's quite a bit of news.
✷ i have a new website! ✷
i've wanted to have a proper website for craft or diy years, but some asshole already owns the craftordiy dot com domain (and it's just been parked for ages, doing nothing). i decided to buy this domain now that dot other things seem to be legible to folks.
the site has a fully fledged shop (all my etsy stuff + anything etsy banned for "encouraging violence") and offers international shipping for paper goods. i had to stop shipping international on etsy because they started penalizing sellers for using non-etsy postage, and wanted me to charge package rate for international shipping (which starts at $14, often for an item that only costs $2.50 or whatever).
in conjunction with the new site, i finally formalized my personal reparations situation. i'm donating 5% of my monthly income to BIPOC. you can check out the reparations page on my site for more info. the new site also has info about bulk ordering and my eco initiative. i'm stoked about how it turned out.
✷ zines news ✷
i contributed to two zines this month, sort of! one of them is a jeff rosenstock fanzine called never get tired, which you can flip through at the link. i drew a picture of jeff based on a photo i took of him performing (the first and only time i saw him play! john and i went and it was so much fun and i felt so old for being totally out of breath from boppin around). the other one is something my friend jake mayday put together that i'm excited to see finished. he used an excerpt from my latest issue of wanderer, about how we can make the diy music community a better place going forward, after the long covid pause.
last month i mentioned how a handful of my zines would be included in an exhibition at houston center for contemporary craft in houston, tx (is anyone on this list in the neighborhood?). the exhibit, copy culture: zines made and shared, is up and runs through january 8th, 2022. here's a few photos!

✷patreon / zine news ✷
i'm planning on doing some scanning to highlight zines i've made contributions to for my patrons, since i don't have any zines in the works til after the holidays. i plan on sending all my $5+ patrons a lil gift in the mail for the holidays too (so make sure your addresses are up to date!).
✷ shop news ✷
i have 7 new sticker designs available, on etsy and in my webshop respectively. i'm planning on putting together some sticker bundles and pressed flower pins for the holidays when i find the time.

✷ coupons for y'all ✷
since the holidays are always bonkers, i'm having an early bird sale. you can use the code EARLYBIRD at checkout on etsy or in my webshop for 15% off your order now thru december 1st. i have yet to share this info anywhere else :)
✷ fucking hooray ✷
this month i'm thankful for my new pumpkin picking and carving tradition with my friend naomi, long phone calls with far away friends, quince season, nerding out about music with andrew (and replaying this elliott smith mixtape he made me), zine community, and cuddling with both my partners. i'm thankful i could rattle off a list of things i'm thankful for, even though my body hurts and i'm super anxious to drive on the highway with my therapist later today (:
i hope you're all having a lovely spooky season. take care <3
love, alyssa
