hey y'all, i hope you're hanging in there. it feels weird to be putting out a newsletter with the way the world has been this month (and like, generally). it's so fucked up, i don't even know what to say about it, other than defunding the police would be a good start. here's some less devastating news:

✷ punk rock flea market report ✷

naomi and i managed to slap together a really rad little market (hello if you signed up for my newsletter there!)! it exceeded my expectations , and it's very clear that the punk rock flea market fills a niche here. it was so heartening to see all the baby punks and queers come out of the woodwork for the event. all the tablers we spoke to seemed to be content with how it went. we're definitely planning on having another one, and we'll hash out the details after we both rest up awhile! if any locals wanna be the first to know deets about the next punk rock flea market, there's a mailing list signup here (i'll probably make it a real website eventually).

it was interesting to hop back on the organizing horse after a long hiatus! i both love it and hate it, but this event ultimately felt rewarding (and financially rewarding, too! a rare bonus). it wasn't as stressful or time-consuming as co-organizing olympia zine fest, but it was a little more intensive than hosting a gig. it's a doable middle-ground, and naomi and i make a good team!

✷ zine news ✷

wanderer 8 is all written out, i just need to finish the drawings and layout! it's been a SLOG to get this thing done. i'm also simultaneously working on two mini zines, one is full of affirmations that have been helpful to me this past year, and the other is an expansion on my info graphic series about how to support artists after the etsy strike. i also have a whole other zine written out about things to not say to people with skin conditions, but i never laid it out. i have about a million zine ideas right now and zero time to work on them! i have the figure out how to restructure my time, soooo much of it is spent manufacturing inventory and fulfilling orders, there's little time left for creating. it's a bummer!

in other zine news, we had a few nice days this week so i had the zine library outside and it got cleaned out! i'm always accepting zines for that, if anyone is interested in sending some, or sending/pointing me to pdfs to print.

✷ south sound micro biz resource swap ✷

i just made a google group for this and realized i should've called it "south sound sole prop resource swap." missed opportunity! feel free to join or share with your small biz friends with anti-capitalist sensibilities (you can reply here for me to add you also, if the link gives you trouble!). the group description is: "no bosses, no masters! sole prop & other small biz folks offering each other a leg up as we try to survive capitalism together. share resources, skills, supplies, opportunities, events, etc!"

✷ pride month approaches ✷

pride month always sneaks up on me and i always wanna do something special for it but i never do lol. i just ordered some stickers of my "protect trans kids" design, so those will be coming down the pipe in june. i guess just tell your friends that i have all the queer swag if they need it! i think pride should prolly be a riot again this year, don't you?

i know i say this all the time, but make sure your addresses are up to date! i'm guessing wanderer issue 8 will be done in june or july, and patrons get the first copies. i might send out a reminder through patreon when i'm for sure ready.

✷ big thief played spud infinity when i saw them in portland and it was so sick even though i struggle so hard to go to gigs because they start too dang late!
✷ we've had a few nice weather days recently and that's been a huge relief
✷ i finally organized a punk rock flea market, a thing i've wanted to do since i was a teenager!
✷ i found out dogbreth is playing oly in august and i'm gonna come out of retirement to open for them, thank you josh hoey for booking the thing! i've been wearing out this tape of theirs
✷ got some sick vacation plans with both my respective partners and i'm looking forward to summer! or just like, making it through next week!
