it's fucking june!?!? happy pride! the resilience of queer & trans people is seriously astounding! we cannot be stopped! anyway, there's a lot going on, i've been inundated with pride wholesales and i'm trying to do a lil too much! i'm just gonna jump in!

✷ upcoming gigs ✷

tender perennial just can't stay retired i guess! i'm playing two gigs this month, one is this friday, june 16th at le voyeur in olympia. the other is tuesday, june 27th at the plum bucket in tacoma (booked by resident tacoma diy friend, hugh! hmu for the address). both bills are full of buds, and i'm actually more excited than nervous for once. i learned how to play last words of a shooting star by mitski and i was gonna play it on the 16th but i'm worried it's simply too sad to subject an audience to?? tacoma gig will feature a special appearance by kyle (my partner in love, crime and housing) on bass. they're a secret shredder, and i'm excited they're gonna brave the stage (or yard, or living room?).

✷ zine news ✷

I AM ACTIVELY WORKING on wanderer issue 9, a new foraging mini zine, and the family recipes zine, i just do not actually have enough time in any day to do all the things i'd like to get done! i'd like wanderer 9 to be done by july, i currently have most of it written and some of it drawn.i hope the family recipe contributors aren't too mad at me for seemingly totally dropping the ball! i'm gonna post a sneak peak for patrons like right after i do this. also, my little pocket guide to pride is restocked for a limited time only.

i finally overhauled the fests & fairs page on do diy and you should go look at the glorious table organization! you can click the headings to sort by category. previously they were organized solely by month in which they occur, which is helpful if you're trying to tour, but now you can also sort by city and state! it's as up to date as it's ever gonna be! as always, let me know about your local zine fest, anarchist book fair, punk rock flea market, comics fest or all ages music festival and i'll add it to the page!

it was so fucking cute and wholesome, y'all! i wanna have another one in early august, if i can swing it! had a decent little turnout and lots of friends expressed that it was exactly what they needed (which is music to my ears).

✷ july stuff ✷

i'm taking a solo trip to boston july 12-17th to visit my crucial bud, john! my shop will be closed for a little while before/afterward so i can go to a gig and do a zine reading right after i get back (and then recover!). i've never been to boston, and it's still abstract enough in my head that i'm not freaked out to fly alone to a new city. that will surely change as the trip approaches! i'll post about it again next month, but i'll be doing a zine reading at the olympia library on july 20th (6:30-8pm) as part of an event that joshua from antiquated future distro put together.

✷ punk rock flea market fundraiser ✷

naomi and i are planning a fundraiser for late july because we're hoping to move the market to a bigger space (the olympia armory) and it costs a lot of money to rent (do they know artists don't have any money?). any money we raise will go towards buying event insurance, reserving the space and covering the free tables we offer BIPOC. the fundraiser will be a movie night (outdoors) with concessions available for purchase. we could use a projector if anyone local wants to lend us one! the location for it is pending, as is the movie. stay tuned!

it was all i could do to make it to this section! in EXTREMELY EXCITING news (i.e. it's hard for me to think about literally anything else), some friends and i are looking into the particulars of creating an all ages diy music venue. we might have an opportunity to get a space with a few other diy orgs who are looking, and if that falls through, we plan on pursuing a space anyway. we've had two meetings now and fundraisers are being discussed. if you have any experience with this sort of thing and wanna share, we need all the help we can get!
