zine news

i finished two zines this month! i don’t know how.

a mini zine on a marbled paper background, cover features an old desktop computer with wavy distortion coming out of the screen. text reads, “do DIY dot org. a resource hub for touring musicians, performers, zinesters & other weirdos.”

i made an updated do diy mini zine primer- it just made sense since i’ve been doing a lot of updates to the site. hmu if ya wanna be an outreach volunteer! (read: for some reason you WANT to send a bunch of emails :))

i also just finished up wanderer issue 10!!! i’m going to do a first edition of 50 copies that are hand bound with embroidery floss- those are the copies patrons will get. i’ll put leftover 1st edition copies in my shop and after that, they’ll all be stapled instead. feelin’ a lil self-conscious because wanderer 10 is very text-heavy and also very covid-grief heavy. i also talk about sex in there lol, which is something i always feel weird about.

both zines will go out to patrons in early march!!! wanderer 10 will go up in the shop after it goes to patrons, the do diy primer is already in there (and printable for free on dodiy.org. print them!! leave them places!).

upcoming events

all of these events are masks required and at DECAY (402 washington st ne).

march 2nd - rite of spring: masks required goth rave, 7-10PM, all ages, masks required, $10 NOTAFLOF
march 8th - free mask distro 4-6pm, meet yr local mask bloc, get free masks
march 15th - covid conscious fiber arts meet up 4-6pm, bring a project! all skill levels!
march 22nd - mask chain workshop ($10 NOTAFLOF, supplies provided) + free mask distro 4-6pm

i am also hosting open draw at DECAY every tuesday (2-5) til the end of march - it’s not explicitly masks required because it’s not my event, but most folks mask for it and DECAY is equipped with multiple air purifiers + CO2 monitoring.

not my event, but i’m providing air purifiers and it looks promising: Dance party! Masks required. $5 suggested donation, NOTAFLOF. All ages, ADA accessible. Sunday, March 23rd 2025, 6:30-9:30 PM at Friendship Hall (220 Union Ave, Olympia, WA 98501).

3/4 air purifiers have been purchased for grant program recipients! one to go, if you wanna donate! also mask bloc reopened our mask delivery form (it’s in the linktree, i’m gonna make us a website eventually).

there are rumblings of starting an email list for local covid conscious events, and i’m looking at a calendar that supports community submitted events for that. i am not spearheading this! but i will surely be involved somehow lol.

also i’m working on getting the pluslife tester more loan-out-able. stay tuned.

DECAY

if yr interested in keeping up with what’s going on at DECAY but you don’t wanna check instagram, we now have an email list you can sign up for! it’s under the contact tab on the site. right now i’m trying to hit send on the last day of each month, the email includes all the upcoming events on the calendar. we’re also trying to add events to the KAOS calendar, and freakscene respectively. there’s also a patreon!!

burning the candle at both ends

i am not doing great! trying to steal moments to rest! trying not to do anything i feel resistance about, if i can help it! embarking on the long and arduous process of delegating some of the things that are on my plate right now, because i’m at the edge of burnout and trying not to teeter over the cliff. it looks like the next time i will be less busy is april, and i’m trying to keep it that way (bad news for oly punk rock flea market - hoping to host one in the fall this year).

i took off for my birthday and had perhaps the least restful vacation ever, so i decided to leave my etsy on vacation mode until ???. however, the website is open! if someone places another wholesale i’m gonna die tho! i have one last big one to make it through. i desperately need a real break.

tiny victories

• i am somehow still kickin’ but i am very, very tired

• made an “I SAID NO!” punch card for myself! - when it’s all filled out, i get a treat

• drove on I5 for the first time in years to visit with my friend crush, extremely worth it

• crocus watch 2025 begins- we have a handful of crocuses blooming in the yard
