january felt like it lasted 3 months and flew by simultaneously? it’s somehow a week into february. the world is facing grief and loss on a tremendous scale, and yet my personal life is hella dope right now. it feels so fucking complicated to hold both things!!!

✷ craft or diy ✷

i’ve been ~digitally drawing~ a lot since i finally figured out how to charge my apple pencil! i am generally a computer literate person, but i am learning that does not necessarily extend to technology at large lol. remember when there were just… Computers??? and not like, smart phones or tablets, and even laptops weren’t the most common personal computer yet? it’s hard to believe such a time existed! now i’m addicted to a tiny computer that lives in my pocket and I Hate It!

while i was tabling at tacoma is for lovers last weekend, i spent my down time drawing on the tablet. at one point, a child approached and loudly proclaimed that they made their own rainbow brush in procreate, and then ran through all the steps involved. that kid has a much better grasp than i do! but i managed to make a mini zine and a sticker with it this past month.

speaking of tacoma is for lovers, it was my first time tabling that event and it was really lovely! i met quite a few fellow queers wearing high quality masks. people were friendly and my valentines got a lot of chuckles, which made my day.

zine sneak peak! patrons will receive the new zine imminently, in addition to the second home mini zine i made at the end of the year for our show that got postponed (i know i said that last month! oops!)! the envelopes are stuffed, i just gotta get stamps. they’ll be in my shop once they go out to patrons!

physical and digital zine subscribers should keep an eye on their IRL mailboxes. since i tend to always send mini zines out to digital subscribers, i’m gonna go ahead and solidify that as “mini zine” tier real soon.

✷ second home ✷

we have been BUSY over at second home!! our calendar is packed, and we now have a volunteer interest form linked on the site.

the benefit is back on, baby! i owe it all to violet for kindly letting us use new moon. i met violet when i first moved out west; we both went to see edhochuli play at the nut hole in seattle and then slept over there on the floor. being strangers and having woken up around the same time on the same floor, we got coffee together at vita the next morning. and that’s punk, baby! there’s like 100 people i met in this type of way, and we all do favors for each other for years after the fact.

i am really, really excited for this show! i hope if you’re in oly, you’ll come by. we’ll have goodie bags and free zines and it will just generally be a real sweet time. new moon shows always are. give them yr money if ya can!

i didn’t make an Official Post for some songs this month, but it is imperative that you listen to this version of 50 shades of shitbags by des ark. i started a draft for jan/feb, but i don’t feel like finishing it yet :)

✷ clean air org ✷

i’ve been hella inspired by the work clean air club is doing and i finally decided to just make a clean air org already. i had initially intended to roll this up into second home, but i got impatient lol. i’m getting my thoughts organized before i make a quick website and do a gofundme to buy this air purifier. in the meantime, i’m gonna put together a corsi-rosenthal box (4 HEPA13 air filters + a box fan) to bring to our shows.

i have settled on clean air oly for the name, and the air purifier share will be OlyFans (thank you indiana lmao). it feels legible to call it clean air oly, it’ll be easier to google than olyfans, and i’m assuming it’ll meet less resistance if “covid” isn’t in the name. what a funny world we live in.

• i’ve already gotten some birthday mail and i legit shed a little tear opening mail from tuck! (listen to gender reveal)!

• thank you anyone who sent mail, i love you!!

• i went to a masked queer skate night and it turns out my wobbly body remembers how to rollerblade! it was so much fun! there’s another one feb 16th, 5-7 at skate land.

• i have been proactively fighting people-pleasing tendencies in my organizing relationships lately and i’m really jazzed about navigating conflict! conflict doesn’t have to be scary, it can be generative!

• crocus watch 2024 has begun :)

• naomi and i are gonna celebrate our bdays on the day in between them by watching the Iconic 1995 film Hackers <3
