hey y'all, i am freshly 31 years old, and i survived another valentines day! life hack: ask for the things that you want! i find myself giving out the valentines i wish i would receive every year around my birthday, so this year i just straight up asked my friends to send me valentines. the result was (drumroll) i got a bunch of valentines and felt very loved! so simple, and yet it only just occurred to me that silently pining for the things i want will not actually materialize them for me. that's why we have these cool things called words that we can employ to get our desires fulfilled. my 30s are just beginning, but the trend seems to be embracing my desires as valid, and then asking for what i want. i gotta say, it's a marked improvement over my 20s, which were largely spent romanticizing the lie that the people who love you will read your mind and give you exactly what you need. the implication attached to that lie, is if they don't give you these things you haven't actually asked for, then they don't really love you. it's a dope way to build resentment. that sucks, y'all! i am floored that it's taken me so long to just own my desires, however big or small they may be. 

✷ zine news ✷

i have officially sold over 100 copies of how to support your non-binary family member, you can get your very own copy from my etsy shop (physical copies are $10 and some change, digital version is $4). i finally sent a copy to my own parents, along with a letter informing them of my gender identity. i am awaiting their response. aaaand i am terrified!

in other less intense zine news, i have already received 6 submissions for my new zine, best show ever. i'm accepting submissions until march 6th if you'd like to wax nostalgic about diy gigs past. i don't even know which show i'm gonna write about yet, but i've been making a list. this could be a multiple issue zine. i have some fancy gold cardstock in my back pocket and i'm planning to release a very limited, hand-numbered edition of this for patrons only. regular copies will be available through the usual channels in a month or two, and potentially antiquated future distro too!

i've also started organizing my thoughts for wanderer 7. i'm positive it's going to take a while.

i recently added over 40 new buttons to my etsy shop. i've been slowly rolling them out on social media, but all the listings are there. i've been working on these whenever i have a few free moments for what feels like an eternity. new sticker designs are next up! i hope y'all enjoy these! you can use the code GETWARMER for a little discount.
 

✷ fucking hooray ✷

this month i am grateful that black folks invented rock n roll. flower buds and phone calls with close friends are also on the top of my list, along with the slow but continual growth of my business (which feels weird to say) and my persistent pretty okay mood. i'm happy to be busy and seemingly balancing alright on this limb i went out on! i hope y'all are taking care.
