greetings

hi hello! unintentionally took a month off from the newsletter. i worked too much in july, so i spent august prioritizing rest and relationships and fun summer stuff. i am extremely broke but i don’t regret a thing lol.

upcoming

sept 1st: i’m having a show in my yard, i think it’s gonna be a lot of fun. kc is gonna grill i think, and we’ll have a designated eating area. this was supposed to be at decay, but i scooted it to my yard, since we can’t have live music there for the time being (fire marshal shit, we’re workin’ on it, outlook: good). i have a fraught relationship with booking shows in my old age, but i’m choosing to believe this one is gonna go off without a hitch lol. olympia’s first ever porch fest is also happening on this day, but this show is right after it ends, if you haven’t quite gotten yr fill and wanna pop over to the west side for one more performance :)

sept 21st: oly punk rock flea market at friendship hall, noon-4pm. free, all ages, masks required! at the moment we have 50+ applications and 16 spaces available :’) we rly need a bigger venue for this thing, but there simply isn’t one that is a) downtown, b) affordable and c) ADA accessible. lemme know if you know of one??

keep yr eyes peeled for a DECAY fundraiser in october- hmu if you’d like to donate something to the raffle we’ll be having.

i’m virtually participating in bay area queer zine fest this year! sept 1st-14th!

i also have a new mini zine about how i got off spotify, this one will ship out to digital + physical zine subscription patrons just as soon as i get the stamps i ordered in the mail.

shout out patrons btw!! i’m always surprised every time someone new signs up lol. i’ve been having a rough go of it financially lately (my living expenses doubled this year because our healthcare system is garbage and medical expenses are putting a big strain on my household). i can’t even articulate how helpful it is to be able to rely on that relatively consistent monthly income. my sales have been in the toilet since march, rather unsurprisingly (i sure as shit can’t afford little luxuries rn, and i know i’m not alone in that boat)! in any case, i deeply appreciate it if you’ve chosen to bestow any small amount of yr income on my art!! <3

can’t recommend this enough! it tickles my brain in the best way. not on streaming, proceeds go to a good cause.

discovered this band because my sweetie ordered a tape from my ex-sweetie + friend’s band ther (split with sadurn, highly recommend) and got this as a bonus tape from dead definition. bless independent tape labels <3 i’ve been listening to this on repeat for 2 weeks.

moment of appreciation for addendum recs / dollar tapes, lost sound tapes & musical fanzine.

i went to see malasada (fka blanket truth) and neutral shirt this month and it was really lovely to see jon IRL for the first time since i hosted blanket truth at my old house in 2012. he stayed masked for his performance :’) and neutral shirt blew me away. it was also so nice to be among to many graying diy lifers and fellow tape nerds. felt like the good ol’ days for a minute.

• packed lots of fun stuff into my schedule for when i wasn’t sitting in the garden or napping or watching movies.

• spent a lot of time with my sweetie, and started seeing a new person too- polyamory is dope and i’m trying to have as much kinky gay sex as possible as an act of resistance in our current socio-political climate.

• NRE is fun :)

• had a blast at the latest masks required roller skate night, and afterward at dinner with clover.

• went to the quarry and sauvie island, went to a couple fun gigs.

• did a pretty dang good job of honoring my energy!
