greetings! the notes app is a special place, and that’s where this particular newsletter began today. so hello! to quote a song off the new cheekface album, “my brains completely full.”

august has already been a year long for me, everything has just been relentlessly happening so much. here are the headlines:

gig: i’m playing a gig this weekend! sunday (tomorrow), 6pm at pressing on fitness (623 5th ave se), $10 notaflof (no one turned away for lack of funds). it’ll be the first gig i’ve played since march 2020, i'll be playing a new song and it's the only one in the set that i like lol. i’m dreading playing to be honest (anxiety/imposter syndrome :)), but i’m really excited for all of the other bands (especially dogbreth!). i’m also stoked that there will be a coloring contest, and that josh has booked an early, all ages outdoor gig. i open, and i don’t plan on playing anything else for a while, so!

prfm: the punk rock flea market is saturday, august 27th from 11-4 at pressing on fitness. free & open to the public! cheap stuff guaranteed! we’ll have outdoor vendors this time in addition to indoor vendors. masks are required inside, and the space is ada accessible. there’s more info at our website! i’m really psyched for everything about this event, and so grateful to naomi for doing a lot of the heavy lifting this month while i worked wild hours and spent the rest of the time on vacation or having an existential crisis! i made some new prints for this, all 3 of my new zines will be there, plus i’ll have some punk rock flea market exclusive coupons. please tell your friends about it and roll through if you aren't too busy with oly summer fest and the other block party thing (if you skip the flea market, the real event to go to would be the olympia indie music history project open house, sorry not sorry to the other events going on) <3

oly zine fest: last but certainly not least, i’ll be tabling olympia zine fest on sunday, september 4th from 11-4 at west central park (outside :)). it’s gonna be very rad! sofie's scoops will be there with gelato :) ozf is also doing a last minute zine-a-thon the night before the fest at the library (i’m not sure if i can make it because my partner’s fam will be in town, but you should go!)

after the zine fest, i plan to take a deep, deep breath for the rest of september. and hopefully do a complete overhaul of my office. side note, anyone local need record mailers??? i've been tucking them into different corners of my office for years apparently.

✷ zine news ✷

i just did the math and i made a total of 238 zines, between inventory for the flea market and zine fest. no wonder i'm exhausted. there has to be a better, faster way?? i genuinely cannot believe how long it’s taken to amass an appropriate amount of inventory. i would like to lose my job to a machine, please.

i randomly made a new zine i hadn’t planned to make! it’ll make its debut at the flea market, because naomi made some awesome pots and i gave them my begonia cuttings to plant in ‘em, and thus “cane begonia care” was born. i’m really into cane begonias rn, after having some for many years and only recently being bothered to look into how to make them thrive. 

in other zine news, patron copies of wanderer 8 have shipped! it is now available in my shop. here's the link if you'd like to listen to the associated playlist.

four 1" pin-back buttons with the text, "abort the supreme court" and "abortion is healthcare," with white text on black and pink/white gradient backgrounds respectively.

i finally got around to making these pins and adding them to my shop, 100% of the profit will go to planned parenthood and the national network of abortion funds on an alternating basis.

the do diy domain & hosting & email move is complete! i wasn't able to do that much in the way of spring cleaning this month because gestures at everything but hopefully next month. i'm hoping to catch up on emails in the next two weeks and hopefully onboard my helper too.

✷ fucking hurray ✷

✷ i started cleaning out my office and rehoming random packing materials and craft supplies i've hoarded over the years and it feels soooooo gooooooooood
✷ i just scheduled my first massage in years, can't wait! if i had money, i would buy all the therapy and massages
✷ kyle and i got a heat pump installed at our house so we no longer need to suffer in the godforsaken heat (plus better air circulation, since covid isn't going away)
✷ i read this book, aerated the soil of all my potted plants, and now a bunch of them are putting out hella new leaves!! if anyone local ever wants cuttings, lemme know!
✷ i was offered a paid workshop opportunity (thanks to my wonderful friend erin!) and hopefully i didn’t blow it by taking too long to respond! more on that later perhaps??
✷ i can’t wait to have a therapy appointment for the first time in months, brain is Not Good rn :')
✷ even though the garden has been kinda disappointing this year, i made pickles with cucumbers and dill i grew, which was definitely a win
✷ have you listened to the new cheekface? because it's ridiculously good. also ther put out a new track, highly recommend!
