The Ox Weeks
In Sweden there is a name for the period we are currently in - The Ox Weeks (Oxveckorna). This name refers to the period without any longer continuous holidays that follows Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It is generally considered the darkest and most somber period of the year. Often characterized by lack of money after the abundance of Christmas.
In Zen Buddhism, The ox (or sometimes bull) represents what can be called the true self, Buddha-nature or emptiness. The oxherder represents each of us, and our journey through faith, doubt and determination. I hereby declare a new meaning of the Ox Weeks. It’s a time for realizing what’s important. I send my love to all of you and whatever struggle you currently might find yourself in.
This Friday (17th of January, 2025) I will perform a 20 min semi-improvised live set in Gothenburg at a gallery called NSFW. The current exhibition is guest-curated by me and my good friend Jamie. I will “jam out” with an existing sound piece by Teresa Winter and Mia Windsor that is part of the exhibition. Felisha Ledesma is also performing. She is one of the brains behind Fors who make exceptional Max for Live devices and plugins. Stoked to see her perform.
