I will be releasing new music in August. The new music is a little different compared to my previous material under the name Cotton Mouth. But in a way, it feels like a return to a form I feel at home in.
The first MP3 file I ever downloaded was Enjoy The Silence by Depeche Mode. It was my first encounter with electronic music. My new material is somehow connected to the feeling of awe I felt at the time. Sounds that I didn't understand where they came from and a soundscape that testified to something expansive and big, beyond my understanding.
I have revisited Jeff Vandermeer's writing in recent years, along with other media that could perhaps fall under the genre he is a kind of representative of. In an ongoing climate crisis and a general unwillingness to accept the truth in society, it feels reassuring and strengthening to have stories about nature's infinite complexity and vitality. Several things that seem to be opposites but are true at the same time — the non-dualism that is at the core of all living things and man's fear of encountering the uncontrollable and mysterious. The new EP is called Knot 1 Knot 2.
