The long break is coming up - Thanksgiving and then Christmas, the holidays as it were. For sales people, Q4 of course is anything but a break, so hug your sales person.
Getting paid, podcast edition
I got a few offers sponsoring the Software Definded Talk podcast. It looks like we could get about $75 an episode (split three ways after costs). We’re at just north of 2,000 downloads per episode (over a few weeks). $75 seems like a whole lot more than $0, and it’d be nice to pay for the $420 in hosting fees (while Fireside is awesome, it ain’t cheap!). If we recorded every week- which we don’t! - that’d be $3,900 a year.
It’d be great to find a simple, block sponsorship for something like 6 months at a time. I like the “brought to you buy” style they have on the Exponent podcast (by mailchimp). The $75 offer is nice because it’s some folks who will “do all the work for us,” but take 50% as a result (they charge $150/episode, giving us that $75 off it) - which, really, is fine given the setup and conditions they’re proposing.
