From Code to Cosmos: The Origin Story of Cosmic Plumbing
In April 2020, in the hardest part of lockdown, stuck in his apartment in Berlin, Germany, our now-CTO Tres Henry did what most people don’t do when they get into astrology: he built his own software.
He wanted to learn astrology not just by reading charts—but by watching time move. So he made a prototype that let him do just that: a real-time rotating chart wheel with a slider that let you glide forward or backward through time. When he first showed it to his husband and designer Jake, the thing looked like it was breathing. It was barebones, sure—but it was alive.
He called it Prometheus. Then Urania. And over a long line of weekends, rituals, and rebuilds, that prototype became something of a cult tool among astrologers and magical practitioners. Tres had designed it for himself, mainly to find electional charts—windows of time ripe for magic—but when he started showing it to friends, they kept asking: “Wait, can I use this too?”
Learning by Vibes, Not Just by Math
What made Urania different wasn’t just its precision—it was how you got to that precision. Tres would slide time forward, watching the planets glide through the wheel, almost zoning out into a trance. Not guessing, not calculating. Feeling. Feeling when the moment clicked.
We later learned that a lot of electional astrologers do this too—this semi-mystical process of seeing the chart shift until the right moment reveals itself. It's half technical skill, half altered state.
That trance-led sleuthing is something we knew we had to carry forward into Cosmic Plumbing.
Yes, you still need to know the rules. We’re not replacing astrological literacy. But the work of finding that perfect chart—like a Saturn cazimi rising, with the Moon applying to Jupiter—shouldn’t feel like punishment. It should feel like flow. Like hunting for a needle in a haystack, but the haystack is beautiful, and the needle isn’t poking you.
From DIY Ritual to Practitioner Platform
Cosmic Plumbing is what happened when the vibe-led magic of Urania met our shared desire to build something bigger. Tools not just for one person’s ritual, but for a whole generation of practitioners who work seriously with astrology—and want software that takes them seriously too.
We believe software can help you think astrologically. It can help you feel time. It can empower your rituals, your client work, your curiosity. But it should never interrupt the magic. It should never get in the way of your trance.
