Upcoming Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Design Guide Training of Trainers Workshop | USAID Advancing Nutrition — www.advancingnutrition.org

The Designing Effective Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture Activities Workshop is a three-day program that guides teams to design, implement, monitor, and manage agriculture-led economic growth activities for improved nutrition outcomes. Biofortification of staple crops with higher levels of micronutrients via traditional breeding methods is a sustainable strategy and can possibly complement fortification and other interventions to target micronutrient deficiencies in low resource settings, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children.

In the Philippines, there is little documentation about the population size of indigenous peoples (IPs) and more so on their health and nutrition status. 

Critical assessment of the current indicator for antenatal iron‐containing supplementation coverage: Insights from a mixed‐methods study

Daily consumption of iron‐containing supplements is recommended for all pregnant women but there is no approved global standard indicator for assessing supplementation coverage.

Although the potential impact of food fortification to improve the micronutrient status of populations has been demonstrated beyond a doubt, it is constrained in practice by critical gaps in program design and implementation. These are partly linked to suboptimal decision making.
