Program in International Nutrition Newsletter
Dear PIN Community,
I hope you are all well and staying safe.
As I take on this new role, first and foremost, I extend my gratitude to Kate Dickin for leading this program for the last 6 years - I have really enjoyed our conversations about PIN with you being down the hall, Kate, and I hope I can continue to engage you in the program even though you will be on the other side of the campus.
With the ongoing pandemic and its major impact on nutrition and health status around the world, its timely to refocus our energy as well as reimagine how the program in international nutrition can serve us all, build synergies across our alumni network, and leverage our collective experience and expertise to stem the loss of major gains made in the last few decades in nutrition along with tackling the epidemic of malnutrition that this pandemic is leaving in its wake.
I will like to share some initial updates and plans for PIN for the upcoming year.
New branding and website - We have started working on the new website and we also have an exciting new logo that you can see in this newsletter, thanks to Elena Cherchi (www.elenacherchi.com). Details on the website will follow and I will also reach out to you for content.
PIN Seminar - We will continue to host the PIN seminars on Thursdays from 12:25 to 1:25 pm US Eastern time and have a mix of external and internal speakers lined up for this Spring semester. Seminar access will be through https://cornell-pin-seminar-spring2021.eventbrite.com and registrations will be required.
In conversation with leaders in Global Nutrition - we are starting a new podcast that is going to feature our seminar speaker in conversation with a PIN trainee. The podcasts are going to be available through all major platforms and will also be transcribed as a blog post on our website.
Newsletter - We will also start sending out a periodic newsletter. A preview of the format of this newsletter is below with a few updates from last Fall. If you have any updates for these, as well as any media that you will like to share, please send me an email to pindirector@cornell.edu.
Please watch this space or follow us on Twitter/LinkedIn for more announcements and additions to the program. Please also feel free to send any suggestions or ideas for us to work on. Any and all feedback is welcome. Many thanks, and I look forward to working together with all of you.
Best wishes,
Saurabh
