We are currently seeking applications from academic and industry applicants who have innovative point-of-care technologies in several different areas such as STIs, cancer detection, nutrition, and emerging infectious disease in low-resource settings, heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders, and more. All proposals addressing global health Point-of-Care (POC) gaps as expressed in the PORTENT needs assessment are encouraged. Awards vary by center and may include up to $150K in funding and 12-months of in-kind support services. Required expressions of interest are due no later than 11:59PM on March 31, 2024. Medications and Obesity - Exploring the Landscape and Advancing Comprehensive Care: A Workshop
March 19-20, 2024
Hosted by NASEM, Food and Nutrition Board. This workshop will explore the relationship between medications and obesity, including medications that are used to treat obesity, state of the science around the safety and efficacy of medications in people with overweight or obesity, medications that may cause changes in body composition and weight status, and medications used to treat obesity and obesity-related comorbidities. Climate Conversations: Women in Climate Science

Hosted by NASEM. During Women’s History Month, NASEM is showcasing the role of women in climate science and climate leadership. Amanda Staudt (National Academies Climate Crossroads) will moderate a conversation with Kripa Jagannathan (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), Miriam Gay-Antaki (University of New Mexico) and Monica Sanders (The Undivide Project and Georgetown University) exploring how institutions and governments can elevate women climate scientists, from those shaping climate change research and policy solutions to those pioneering community engagement and climate action.
