Gift song commissions and a Leesta Vall update :)

Hi friends!

I spent my November baking bread, having the most delightful jam sessions ever with my roommates and friends, visiting my hometown (as someone who lived in Bloomington for my whole life till this summer, this is still weird to say) and teaching music lessons. And then there were the horrors… but overall it was a lovely month.

Now it’s the holiday season, which means it is also gift song season! For the last few years I’ve been taking commissions for personalized songs you can give as a gift to a loved one. This could be a Christmas gift for a friend of family member, an anniversary gift for a partner, a New Years vision board in the form of a song—whatever you like! If you’re interested, you can reply to this email to discuss your idea. Here are a couple testimonials from Valentines Day commissions I did earlier this year:

“I commissioned Copeland for a Valentine’s Day song to gift my partner, and the result was everything I had hoped for and more. They took the time to gather stories, memories, and phrases from me and to familiarize themself with the preferred song style to help create a song that is truly personalized and unique to my partner and me. This song is on our list of potential first dance songs for our wedding!” - Mason

“Copeland wrote an incredible little song for my and my girlfriend’s anniversary/valentines day. They captured all the details I sent them and turned it into something so precious we still listen to!” - Sophia

Let me know if you’re interested! Pricing will depend on the length of the project and how polished you want the recording to be, but generally I charge $30 for a chorus, $50 for a verse and chorus, and $75-100 for a full-length song. :)

Also, a number of you have reached out to me recently to let me know that your Leesta Vall records still haven’t shipped out. I am so sorry about the delay! I have been in touch with Leesta Vall to figure out what’s going on and what to expect, and they let me know that they had a shipment of supplies get stuck overseas which has put all of their sessions on an unexpected delay, including mine. I was told yesterday that my vinyls will be expedited to go out asap, but I’m still unsure exactly what that timeline looks like. I will keep you guys posted if I get any new updates! They are coming, I’m just sorry it’s taking longer than expected.

Here are some things I’m looking forward to this December:

  • Shallow Alcove Prom this Friday! Shale Ale has been one of my favorite bands this year. I’m absolutely obsessed with the idea of a prom-themed show.

  • More jam sessions, as many jam sessions as possible. Seven musicians crammed in my Brooklyn Bedroom, Ellis Piper on violin on the other side of the room.

  • My plots and schemes for Bandcamp Friday—expect another email in a couple days :)

Okay that’s all for now. :) Sending love from me and Anya!
