Contextive Community v1.17.0 - Performance & Unicode/Diacritics Updates

Hi there,

Contextive Community edition v1.17.0 is now available with some great improvements:

  • Better support for diacritics and unicode characters in Term names. Some examples:

    • A term Père in your glossary will get displayed when hovering over code elements pere or père

    • A term Auslöser in your glossary will get displayed when hovering over code elements auslöser, ausloser or ausloeser

    • A term Straße in your glossary will get displayed when hovering over code elements straße or strasse

    • See Unicode and Diacritics in the docs for more details and the github issue for examples the informed the design of this feature

    • Would you like better support for multi-lingual teams and code bases? Checkout this github discussion for a proposed feature to enable definitions in multiple languages

  • Glossary files now support yaml or yml file extensions (requested on github)

  • Performance enhancements for very large glossaries. One user reported that they have ~120,000 terms synchronised from a data governance platform, spread over 12 context import files. At this scale, prior versions of Contextive could take upwards of 40-60 seconds to show a hover panel or autocomplete list. v1.17.0 should respond within a second.

Contextive Cloud Beta Update

Contextive Cloud Beta is coming soon! The first version will enable you to maintain your glossaries in a Notion database. The database will automatically sync to the Contextive Cloud service, which will make the glossaries available in your IDE via the existing import feature.

As a subscriber to this newsletter, you’ll be the first to know when it’s available!

Yours in better terminology documentation,
