CSS Club NYC #1 Tonight
Hi friend,
We have the venue, we have the speakers, and most importantly we have you. CSS Club NYC #1 is tonight at 7pm. Doors about 6:45pm.
We are officially sold out. We will be opening up a few spots today as we have folks that bought tickets but can't make it. If you didn't get a ticket, and still want one, check our Discord or reply here for details.
Tonight's lineup
- Tyler Gaw (that's me) - "Hey, Look at Us" - CSS story time. A quick look back at CSS 13 years ago to see how far we’ve come and how much farther we’ll go.
- Matthew Ström - "Everything you didn’t know you wanted to know about the color() function, or, don’t be RGBasic" - Matthew will share the science and math behind colors, gamuts, and colorspaces, and how you can use all this knowledge with css's
color()
function to make the web more beautiful and accessible. - David East - "Bad at CSS" - Are you bad at CSS? Yeah, David is too. His margins collapse, his grids blow out, and flexboxes are always a little too flexy. Whenever he checks Twitter (X?) He sees the greatest CSS tips from the greatest CSS developers and feels like he doesn't know anything at all. He decided to change that. No, he didn't go and “learn” CSS by reading MDN or some other high quality resource. He started a podcast with a bonafide CSS expert, Adam Argyle, and invited several others as guests. And what did he learn? Even they feel like they're bad at CSS. So in this talk we're all going to come together as a sort of festivus, airing out our grievances of being bad at CSS. And just maybe we all might learn a little along the way.
Unofficial after gathering
After we wrap up at Resobox, if you want to stick around (or if you can't make the event) for more chatting and optional drinks, we'll make our way around the corner to dba east village. They have a back yard, a huge drink menu, and usually lots of puppies!
As always, thank you for your support.
