Today marks the 21st anniversary of The Stepfathers, an improv group that had its first show on June 17th, 2005.

I was invited to join the group in September of 2011, and did shows every Friday at UCBNY until the global pandemic shut everything down in 2020. During that 9+ years, I rarely missed a performance.

The Stepfathers has had many, many different line-ups across 21 years, but the current iteration features Shannon O'Neill (who joined the group in 2007), Alexandra Dickson, Sebastian Conelli, Zach Cherry and Shane Nielsen.

We now perform monthly -- currently the 3rd Friday of each month at 7pm -- and some of the shows we have done at the new, post-pandemic UCBNY on 14th St have been (in my opinion) among the best the group has ever performed.

One reason for that comes from the fact that each of us understands and is energized by the spirit of collaboration, that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I am very lucky to be able to do improv shows with this group of very nice and talented people, all of whom are super funny.
