ICA Communication History Division: Call for Paris 2022 Preconference Proposals
CALL FOR PROPOSALS:
The Communication History Division of the International Communication Association invites preconference proposals for ICA’s Annual Conference in Paris, FRANCE in May 2022.
CHD seeks proposals broadly applicable to historical work on media/communication. Mindful of the Paris location, CHD seeks proposals inclusive of issues pertinent to France and the Francophone world; and/or incorporating research networks and resources in France and the Francophone world; and/or otherwise leveraging the global/cosmopolitan location of Paris in conceptualizing and executing the preconference.
ICA anticipates a hybrid (in-person AND online) conference. To the best you can, briefly address these contingencies in your proposal. Organizers should also be mindful of managing an inclusive event hosted in a French-speaking country.
Preconferences are expected to follow ICA guidelines for promoting access, diversity, and inclusion as part of robust intellectual exchange. Organizers should be mindful that panels:
- include contributions from at least two different countries,
- feature gender balance, and
- include not more than one contributor from a single faculty, department, or school, and
- feature a balance of scholars across rank (e.g., doctoral, postdoctoral, assistant professor, etc.)
Please send a 150-word proposal rationale along with a 50-word sponsor(s) bio(s) and contact information to the attention of CHD Chair, Derek Vaillant, dvail@umich.edu.
Indicate “2022 Preconference Proposal” in the subject line.
Proposals must be received no later than 15 August 2021
Please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the CHD team if you have any questions about preparing a proposal.
Thank you!
Derek Vaillant, Chair, ICA Communication History Division
