FIAT/IFTA Media Studies Grant
Deadline for Applications: 14 April 2025
The Media Studies Commission of the International Federation of Television Archives is seeking to commission two small-scale projects that carry out research into broadcast archives. Three core impact research domains have been prioritised for this year:
- broadcast archives as interventions into problematic pasts;
- broadcast archives as responses to present-day societal challenges;
- broadcast archives as lived work cultures.

The FIAT/IFTA Media Studies Grant is a funding scheme that aims to promote archive-based research and ensure the valorization of scientific knowledge for archival practice. Junior and senior researchers from across different disciplines (e.g. media studies, history, sociology, political sciences, cultural studies, environmental studies, anthropology, conflict studies, etc.) are encouraged to apply. We particularly encourage researchers from outside Europe to apply.
