Hi, welcome back! There’s been a little bit more refocusing on my end however, I did manage to find the time to work on projects. No “Zero Days” for me 😄️!

I Started Learning Pixel Art
I have plenty of ideas for games. Unfortunately, I’ve been missing the ability to fully capture the visuals of my games myself. This problem became a major eyesore for me when working on Ninjump.
While the gameplay is there, I was not able to complete the art. I used up a significant amount of time getting the player sprite to behave correctly, leaving me with very little time to work on art for the brick obstacles, walls and the background.
I decided to start learning how to draw pixel art to overcome this issue. I’m using Aseprite to do my drawings. It’s approachable and optimised for drawing pixel art. You can use it to create animations too!
Drawing pixel art feels very therapeutic. I’m excited to do more of it in the future!
Continuing The Unity 2D Course – 2D Platformer With Tilemaps
After completing the quiz game section that I mentioned last week, I moved onto a new section of the tutorial where I have to create a 2D platformer using tilemaps.
So far I’ve learned:
How to import sprites from sprite maps in Unity
How to design levels with tools from Unity’s 2D Tilemap Editor package
How to import packages from Unity’s Asset Store
This looks like the longest section in the course but it also seems like the most fun one so far from first impressions.

That’s all folks!
I’ll speak to you again next Wednesday.
