After enjoying the first couple of days of my weekend, I am finally sitting down to get to the newsletter. Let's do this!
I've got the two final slots filled for the remainder of this year for the podcast. If you're subscribed, then I can tell you the first episode that will drop in November will be all about Accessibility with one of my favorite people in accessibility I get to finally talk to! The latest episode has been released with Dan Mall on the Front End Nerdery YouTube channel account and published on your podcast app platform of choice! The October episode is coming soon, so stay tuned for that!
I had a complete blast at MagnoliaJS and met a ton of new friends and great people and I had quite the response to my talk that I was overwhelmed. The number of people that wanted to learn more and ask questions like what steps should they take to learn accessibility and what they can do filled me with gratitude and happiness!
I'll be in Atlanta for Connect Tech and then off to London, England in November for Modern Frontends Live!
I have been approved to speak at CodeMash 2023 in January about my new talk that I will also be giving at Connect.Tech and Modern Frontends Live on "Deceptive Patterns and FAST". FAST is the Framework for Accessible Specification of Technologies This is something I have been working on for two years now and there is so much more work to go.
The objective? To fill gaps left by WCAG guidelines that those guidelines do not cover. Basically, make your creations and content accessible by making it safe and not causing harm to the people on the other side of the glass. Us.
Showmy.chat by Ben Myers. A customizable way to make your Twitch chats accessible, usable, visible, and fun!
As I tweeted out on Friday, I have decided to take a leap into DevRel. I have a lot to read up and a fantastic response from the DevRel community reassuring me that I am halfway there because of the content and the talks I give already. So much to do so stay tuned for that.
I am going to be moving the newsletter from Buttondown to Revue. So, if you would like to remain on the list, please head over to this link here and sign up. I think I am going to try and make the transition seamless by exporting everything if I can from Buttondown to Revue or to a database or file. We shall see how that goes.
Please spread the word about the podcast and the newsletter if you're so inclined. It's just my way to keep folks up-to-date on my speaking dates and articles I publish on accessibility and to share some fine links with you on accessibility.
Until next time friend,
— Todd 🦞
