Well… The first month at Knowbility has been a busy one! Onboarding complete, I am now doing audits and things are going great! A lot to talk about this issue, so let’s get into it!
Dad is recovering well from his accident and I appreciate all the well-wishes folks have sent. He does need neck surgery however (slated for May 12th) so positive vibes are welcomed.
I have not streamed on Twitch for quite some time and I hope to get back on soon with some content.
Writing two articles for publication still, I hope to get them to editors this week (as of this writing).
I am giving a talk at GAAD 2021 which will be on May 20th. My talk will be at 11:45AM Eastern US time. Registration is FREE!
I have recorded two podcast episodes and they are good ones I think. For my subscribers, I will tell you that episode five is with David Dylan Thomas, author of Design for Cognitive Bias which is an excellent book and if you give the podcast a watch or listen, think about buying David’s book, I highly recommend the read!
Episode six is with the incomparable Mike Monteiro. We talk about his books, his writings, design and why the web is being killed by design among other topics and I enjoyed the chat a lot.
Spicy Link of the Month 🌶
“Find the cost of adding a npm package to your bundle.”
This nifty little web-based tool helps you find packages and informs you of things like bundle size and download time. A must for people that are looking to slim down that heaft node modules folder!
A11y Tip of the Month ♿️
When designing and developing accordions that use information and have a lot of information in those said accordions, make sure your content is scrollable via keyboard.
Chromium-based browsers have issues with this that I have tested. The Chromium team is working on this and there is some more information on that here.
Make sure scrollable content in any container is accessible by keyboard users, especially if those keyboard users have zoom/magnification over 250%.
Recipe of the Month 🦞
Maine Lobster Grilled Cheese with Everything Sauce
(Serves 2)
Everything Sauce * 1⁄2 cup mayonaisse * 1 tablespoon chopped pickle 1 teaspoon sriracha * 1 tablespoon pickle juice * 1 teaspoon ketchup * 1 tablespoon tomato juice * 1 tablespoon minced chipotle * 1 lemon zested and juiced * 1 teaspoon honey * 1 teapoon dijon mustard
Start building the sandwich: Spread the mascarpone cheese evenly over the inside of each piece of bread. Layer the bread bottoms in the following order: cheese, tomato, caramelized onion (it’s ok if it is still warm), tomato, cucumber, Lobster and a touch more cheese. Top with the remaining bread.
To cook the sandwich: Place 1⁄2 the butter in the pan and heat until melted. Add the sandwich and toast over medium heat (it may take a few minutes on lower heat, but it is well worth the melted crunch). Before you flip the sandwich, add the remaining butter, then flip. Place the entire pan in the oven for 5 minutes.
For the Everything Sauce: Combine all the ingredients in a bowl with a whisk and set aside.
To serve: Slice the sandwich in half and serve alongside the everything sauce for dipping. Squeeze the lemon juice over the sandwich at the last minute to add a touch of acid. For a messier, sloppier, finger-licking good time, drizzle the sauce right over the sandwich. Garnish with fresh dill sprigs.

I am still looking for a sponsor or sponsors for the podcast to help defray expenses for transcript/captioning software (Descript) and getting a new domain and website up! Please send anyone or company my way, or if you run a company, contact me!
That’s it for this month.
Keep on being amazing and building great things!
