A little late, but a lot has been going on in my part of the world lately. After a small vacation over to El Paso, Texas last week and some time on the road, I'm back home and ready to rock and roll. 🤘🏻
So let's get to it and let's get to some good finds I have stumbled across!
I've recorded all but one episode already so I have to schedule that in. There is one guest that I would like to get on the show so I am looking into closing the second season out with this guest. More news to come on that.
Other than that, episodes 1-4 are up on the YouTube channel and on your podcast app of choice. The lineup has included Jason Pamental, Anna Cook, the Shop Talk Show fellas, Dave Rupert and Chris Coyier, and Molly Holzschlag. Hope you'll give them a listen (and season one as well) and subscribe.
W3C work has ramped up with my work on what I am calling "deceptive patterns". Patterns we see that trick or deceive people that may cause or do cause harm. I'm hoping in some way the work I have done in the Functional Needs subgroup will make it into WCAG3.
Still working hard and doing accessibility engineering, but I do have a big announcement to make at some point, hopefully in the next month or two.
I have a date in nine days now to go speak at Devnexus and it is my talk on Making A Strong Case For Accessibility. I'm fine-tuning it and including some of the WebAIM Million Report statistics in it. Hop to have this done early on a Sunday.
The Stanley Chow Print Shop has some pretty awesome prints for sale and I am looking to spend some money for the home office to decorate the walls with some of these terrific prints. Check it out!
New Webkit Features in Safari 15.4 Jen Simmons brought this to my attention and I am really excited to see Safari release the browser with a LOT of new features and additions. When I hear (and I'm guilty of saying this myself) "Safari is the new IE." I have to scoff. The Safari team at Apple is doing some pretty cool things and this is just some of what they are doing.
I'm looking forward to doing some awesome CSS experimentation in Safari coming soon.
"Learning web accessibility made easy."
Check it out! I've gone through a small portion of it and it really is a great refresher for me. Hopefully, it will benefit you as well!
The 2022 WebAIM Million Report is now out and you can read about it below. Some interesting data this year. Small changes and some not-so-surprising numbers in my opinion I must say. Check it out!

As you can see, the conversation I had with someone about making an impact and accessibility was on my mind yesterday. When you make things that are inclusive, accessible, and open to everyone, you make an impact. If you don't, you may make an impact, but not as wide as you might think.
I would be remiss if I did not add this tweet from Reginé Gilbert. Something I think we all have to remember.

Hopefully, you're all doing well and staying safe and sound. If you could spread the word about not only the podcast but the newsletter as well, I'd be very grateful.
Next month, I'll be back again with more stuff to fill up the newsletter, so until then, have a great April! And to all who celebrate, Ramadan Mubarak!
Until next time friend,
— Todd 🦞
