002.1 — Natural Conversation, A Pop-Up
It’s been 129 days and however many hours since I last published anything. That’s not a good thing, considering this — Explorations — is marketed as a monthly newsletter, and the last time I checked, there are only 30/31 days in a month. I don’t blame you if you’ve forgotten who I am — Cody Schultz, nature photographer and (sometimes) writer — or why you signed up — to hear me ramble on creativity, nature, and mental health.
Unfortunately, what you’re reading now is but a quick note to let you know about an upcoming pop-up newsletter I am running in conjunction with Manuel Moreale. You may have heard of Manu, as I have spoken of him on Creative Banter a few times. He’s (slowly) creating a custom website for me — he also made the current placeholder site I am using — which we both hope will be finished by the end of August. (Although he will claim it as his fault for the custom site not being finished, there is a lot to be said about my continued back-and-forth deliberations on what I actually desire.)
Through the month of August, Manu and I will be sending daily missives loosely centered on the topic of nature. On odd days, I will send forth a photograph and (roughly) 500 words; Manu will do the same on even days. The goal, for myself, is to finally get into a regular writing routine, which will consequently help to keep this newsletter more consistent. Hell, maybe it will mean I can pitch my essays to more magazines and see my work published in new places.
As per the rules of pop-up newsletters, the entire list will get deleted at the end of the month, and there will be no archive. So, go sign up for Natural Conversation — the fun begins tomorrow, and I still have to decide where to go for my hike.

P.S. Outside of the pop-up newsletter, the next time you will hear from me will be in the middle of August. Let’s put a proper date of August 13th, for a touch of accountability.
