Very Exciting News!
Holding it in my hands!
Work Notes PROMPTS ships out tomorrow March 1 which means today is your last day to subscribe to receive it. In March we'll be studying Attention in celebration of my new book.
Dear Reader,
A rogue Saturday issue of the newsletter here today for all people because I have very exciting news. And because I am a millennial who feels like writing to their readers today! Well, Sinead O’ Rebellion, shock me, shock me, shock me with that deviant behavior. Below are the updates of my life including a most pleasing one.
I find on this cold morning in the rural North that I am missing my braids a bit, but still enjoying my short haircut. Hair is such a strange thing, in some ways I felt more androgynous and boy-like with my long hair, sort of unkempt and without a style. And with my short haircut, I feel more like a girl than I want to. I don’t know the science behind this because I am merely a dancer, not a scientist or gender studies major, but I’m working through it.
The only music I listen to now is the Charli xcx soundtrack to Wuthering Heights. You can read all about how it makes me cry and other things about crying in Erin Shetron’s latest installment of Frequent Criers Club. Grateful to have been a guest.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - working with Erin on your newsletter STRATEGY and VIBE is money well spent.
I have finished writing my March analog newsletter Prompts, and it works with the theme of Attention. It’s really the perfect companion reading to The Practice of Attention, which comes out in just over two weeks, and is why I write to you today.

THE BOOKS ARE HERE! IN MY HANDS! I took this photo with my shitty Wisephone* camera so don’t judge me! AND THE REVIEWS HAVE STARTED POURING IN ON GOODREADS.
Here is a prettier picture of the cover for your little eyes :

Someone named Katelyn says NOT MY FAVE

But don’t worry - look at what Robin says!

One thing that is very cool is once you’ve read the book you can leave a review on GoodReads and on March 17 anyone can leave a review on Amazon (this does not involve giving Amazon any money, it’s simply one way to consider supporting the book)
I’d love love love for you to pre-order it so that it arrives on your doorstep on Tuesday March 17. When you preorder it you automatically get The Attention Audit Workbook in Notion as well as a seven day email course on digital detox. Just pop your receipt in here.
This is a very exciting time. I started working on the outline for this book in 2021 and now it is in my hands. My girlfriend even made her own custom fabric bookmark for her copy!
Other ways to help me celebrate : Invite me to be on your podcast or interview me in your newsletter! No audience is too small I am a slut for a book interview and would love to tell your people about it AND share it in my own newsletter. I’ve got a press kit I made in Canva and everything I am very professional.
In other news, thank you to everyone who offered me great advice about rural organizing after my newsletter Staying with the Flock. Kim sent me this website that is very inspiring.

Also next weekend, a week from today, I am teaching Ritual Technologies : How Writers Make Contact. I am so excited to talk about all things self publishing - especially analog newsletters, email newsletters, books, and more! Plus my slideshow has a bunch of cool old fliers like the one above that inspire me! March 7 at 12pm EST only $55 recorded and yours forever.
We will also talk about using Are.na as a place to have an INBOX or a SECOND BRAIN and how to save all your crazy links into one spot and create a ritual to go through them and integrate them into your work. Research can be fun again!

In business news : I’m thinking about someday getting an OBM. Do you have a business manager in addition to or instead of a Virtual Assistant? I’d love to hear your experience.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST : I created a three minute SURVEY (you know I love these) to determine the future of co-working in my creative business ecosystem. Thank you to the 128 people who have already filled it out.
I hear you - We want seasonal not ongoing, later in the day (I see you West Coast friends), we want the flavor of Landscapes but the spaciousness of Flexible Office, and we don’t want it to be a place for trauma dumping. ON IT! I added two new questions if you care to dip back in about preferred times and what we should name it.
That is all for today. As the news wrecks your spirit and talk of war enters the room I hope you find simple moments of joy today. I hope you organize with your neighbors, grow closer with your friends, and find time to care for yourself. I hope you turn your phone off and get an alarm clock. I hope you remember to eat even one vegetable (ok ok I am just talking to myself now)
But seriously, this world is wild. And I cherish you dear reader I really do I don’t just say that! You are the heartbeat of my practice as a writer. May you be blessed and highly favored.
