Dear Reader,
Sometimes I hit my limit on what to say, what to produce, what should come next. I come out of seasons of deep creation only to find myself stuck on how to release it into the world. Which route to go, which path to take, nothing feels clear.
I’ve been working with a nested goals system to track my tasks in my days and thats been working really well to keep me steady with my daily commitments and my weekly hopes.
Something I know about myself is I love to write, and ever since Landscapes opened up again this month I’ve been asking myself, what does it mean to be a writer? How do we choose what we call ourselves, what identities we hold, what names we’re given.
I also know I love to quilt, and I love to teach people to quilt. This weekend I’m teaming up with Green Door Folk School to bring my Quilt in a Weekend class to the people. It’s a delight to be in community with other artists reclaiming their practice and attention.
In mapping out the seasons and the year I start to see what wants to emerge when and where and how to approach it. Some things are steady and crisp while others are amorphous and cloud like.
This is what guides me in the choosing.
