Reintroducing CocijoType
Introducing our new website.
Newsletter 1 - 17 March
Hello!
Or rather—hello again! After some time away, today we’re reintroducing ourselves.
We are CocijoType.
These past years have been a time of change, preparation, and maturity—a necessary process to grow and strengthen ourselves. Today, we’d like to share everything that has happened at CocijoType.
You are receiving this newsletter because you purchased a font file from us at some point. If you want to unsubscribe, no problem(a), you can click here.
Growing the Foundry
CocijoType was founded in 2009 as an independent type foundry, with a small library and fonts full of character based on our roots in Mexico and beyond.

In 2015, we made a key decision: grow the project and improve our skills. That step involved international academic and technical preparation focused on the quality we wanted to achieve. Today, thanks to this new knowledge, we have several announcements:
New Year, New Everything!
We remastered every font in our library. Changes include cleaner drawings of characters, better-produced font files, smaller file size, and manual-hinting for consistent functionality while you use our fonts.
We added new fonts to the library: These new fonts are a fresh approach and take inspiration from our cultural context and things we have seen around the world. You may notice a mix of ideas materialized in polished pieces of design. We have also added new typefaces and collaborators.
Dafne Martínez, from TipasType, developed the Chaparrita project, a single-style typeface designed for packaging, as well as Pasticcino, a three-style family ideal for headlines.

Chaparrita typeface Antonio Mejía, from Lechuga Type, co-authored Colossus, a geometric sans serif for corporate use. We recently adapted and modified Colossus to create a custom typeface for Banco Multiva which aligned with their new rebrand created by our friends at Forum Studio.

We also redesigned our website: You can now edit live text, see the full glyph range, and confirm language support. We also added common license types to make our fonts easier to use.

We built a custom type page with six case studies showcasing our bespoke type for major brands. These pages highlight our skills and the importance of typography in all aspects of advertising, publishing, and branding.

Thanks for Your Support
Throughout these fifteen years, we have never been alone. We are deeply grateful to every person who has made this project possible—from the designers who have entrusted us with their typefaces to every client who has purchased a style or commissioned a custom project.
Thank you for accompanying us on this journey. We hope you’ll continue with us as we grow CocijoType.
We invite you to rediscover cocijotype.com, a renewed virtual space that better reflects who we are today and where we want to go.
