Closet Tools - It’s been a while! Firefox updates, “the end of bots on Poshmark”, and more.
Hey!
Jordan here. It’s been about two months since you heard from me last (well, other than automated emails and if you reached out to me for help). Two months since a formal newsletter was sent out.
If you didn’t know, I was “out” on paternity leave. We had our third child (a girl named Shea) on June 30! I was still maintaining customer support but I haven’t been as dedicated to cranking out new features and updates as I was in the months prior.
But, I’m happy to report that I’m back 100%. I’m excited for the future of the tool, and it’s an honor to help you make lots more sales.
Alright - some news.
Firefox update (Android users)
A day or two ago, Firefox updated their mobile app to only allow “recommended” add-ons to be used. Recommended add-ons have millions of users and there’s only a few of them. Closet Tools didn’t make the cut (yet).
So I found a different way of getting Closet Tools on Android devices. It uses the “Kiwi” browser, and it actually uses Chrome extensions instead of Firefox extensions.
Here’s the steps to getting it working:
- Install Kiwi browser on your android device here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kiwibrowser.browser&hl=en_US
- In Kiwi browser, head over to the Chrome Webstore page for Closet Tools: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/poshmark-closet-tools/bgbpodbhpifpojhgbfbcahmoblogjdol
- Tap the “Add To Chrome” button.
- When the prompt pops up, hit “OK”.
- That’s it! Head over to Poshmark.com like you normally would and use it just like you would have on Firefox.
I’m not sure if this is a temporary fix or a permanent one. I don’t know anything about the performance of the tool using Kiwi browser, but this will at least get people up and running.
I might try to work on an Android app for Closet Tools - but typically simple browser based apps aren’t approved for the App Store. We’ll see.
The end of bots on Poshmark
Okay - something happened back at the end of July and the beginning of August that was very strange. I try my hardest to keep out of the drama of other bots and virtual assistants and just focus on making the best tool, but it was hard to ignore this one.
The comments of this Reddit thread somewhat explains what happened: https://www.reddit.com/r/poshmark/comments/hvxrd1/seems_posh_has_blocked_the_bots/
This definitely is not the end of bots on Poshmark. No Closet Tools user has ever been banned from Poshmark using the tool. Poshmark updates their site quite often, and sometimes it breaks things temporarily. I’m assuming that’s what happened, but Closet Tools went through those changes without too much of a hiccup.
There were some performance issues for some users (crashing the page, not scrolling all the way down, glitchy share numbers, etc.). I’m still working to get all of those little bugs fixed and making the tool solid. It’s tough when there’s so many different types of devices to support.
The Future of Closet Tools
Now that I’m back 100%, I’m planning out where I want to take all of this and how I want to serve you all better. It has always been my goal to make the best tool that makes the most impact on your sales.
As of right now I don’t have any other jobs, any other projects, and really any other distractions. It’s 100% Closet Tools.
I will continue to iterate on features in the tool, but don’t be surprised if you see some other pretty radical things coming down the pipeline.
As always, if you have any questions let me know by replying to this email.
