MVP: Minimum Viable Protest â Employees from Immediate Media (https://twitter.com/IMClimateAction) and Microsoft (https://twitter.com/MsWorkers4) keep the climate crisis in the minds and the momentum going. Every Friday these folks take an 11-minute break at 11 a.m, in solidarity with the students and workers striking worldwide with Fridays For Future and to discuss how to support green solutions in their companies.
Could you join them at your workplace? Jump in #proj-11at11 (https://app.slack.com/client/T4HLEQA3F/CNVL4T555/) to learn more.

Dear AWS â #proj-aws (https://app.slack.com/client/T4HLEQA3F/CMR2L8ZE0) is about to launch: they wrote an open letter to Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services to ask for more ambitious goals for powering data centers with renewable energy and more transparency to allow organizations to understand their current CO2 emissions.
Read the letter here (https://aws-climateaction.glitch.me/) and, if your company is an AWS customer, get them to sign the letter with this form (https://forms.gle/AbEgedJjDGE24WHy8) .
Find the right CAT â Having so many people looking to help presents its own challenges, but weâre good for that. #proj-directory (https://app.slack.com/client/T4HLEQA3F/CNP55DDQT) has been building an internal directory to network with fellow CATs in your area, find out which groups can use your skills, or look for hiring candidates to add to your organizationâs effectiveness.
The directory is semi-public and password protected. Find the password here (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/CD5NYP079/p1573158865090400) and add yourself with this form (https://airtable.com/shrGuYKXBWUGqVG2a) .

Reduce⦠Reduce, Reduce â WebsiteCarbon (https://www.websitecarbon.com/) is a newly relaunched website that allows you to estimate your website CO2 footprint by looking at key pieces of data like data transfer over the wire, carbon intensity of electricity and traffic. If you donât like the results, CAT member Tom Greenwood has compiled a comprehensive list of 17 methods for making your website more energy efficient (https://www.wholegraindigital.com/blog/website-energy-efficiency/) (and explains why itâs a good idea to optimize for energy efficiency even if you run your website on green energy).
An accelerator for good â Google is opening up an accelerator for startups focused on the UN sustainable development goals (https://www.blog.google/around-the-globe/google-europe/supporting-social-impact-startups/) , including justice, climate, and environment. Eight to ten startups will be selected across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. If you want to apply, keep an eye on Google for Startups (https://twitter.com/googlestartups) . Applications are opening in the next few weeks.
Speak up, on stage â Devoxx UK (https://www.devoxx.co.uk/) is a 3-day conference happening in May 2020 for developers and architects. This year, for the first time, they will have a dedicated track to Green Tech/Software and they are looking for speakers â thatâs, most likely, you! Apply here (https://devoxxuk20.cfp.dev/#/login) , before January 13th.
One more time â Fridays For Future called for another global strike on November 29th. Find the closest strike to you (https://www.fridaysforfuture.org/statistics/map) and join them.
Thatâs all for this month. See you next time!
