** ð¬ CAT Events
CAT Coffee
CAT Coffee events are regular, open opportunities to mingle, share ideas, discuss things or just meet other CAT members. The topics weâll discuss will vary at every event depending on who shows up! Any CAT member can join - you don’t need to be new to drop in!
At the beginning of the event thereâll be an optional 10m presentation where you can learn more about the CAT community and weâll end with and an optional 15m chat where you can learn more about volunteering in the CAT community.
Weâll use our #cat-coffee channel (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/CN459CBN3) to share resources & links during and after the CAT coffee event
Sign up via meetup (https://www.meetup.com/cat-global/events/)
CAT Salon ⢠1h Our “CAT Salons” are regular, thematic community discussions. We start with an 8-10 minute presentation from a lead discussant to level-set our conversation. This is then followed by 45 minutes of facilitated community interaction on the topic. We run our Salons in western-friendly and eastern-friendly timezones.
Join our Meetup group (https://www.meetup.com/cat-global/events/) to get notified for the next CAT Salon
Catch up on our past Salons on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbGj6AM6oTSxqBlhMQlaplw/videos)
:doughnut: CAT Roulette - 30mins - whenever you find a time
We’re continuing our programme of letting members connect to 1 other CAT member every second week for a nice beverage and chat about climate and tech. It’s a nice way to get to know other CATs, and you can start and stop at any time. Joining the #cat-roulette (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/C0202J3UYG7) channel to learn more.

ð¤ Podcasts The latest climate-related podcast episodes.
ð§ (https://www.myclimatejourney.co/cc-episodes/bill-weihl-climatevoice) Time’s Up! We Need Everyone to Fight for 1.5 (https://outrageandoptimism.libsyn.com/113-times-up-we-need-everyone-to-fight-for-15) The past few months have been astonishing. Itâs no news to anyone that climate change is here, right now. In fact, itâs reported by the Washington Post that in the US, nearly 1 in 3 people live in a county hit by a weather disaster in the past three months, and even more terrifying, 2 out of 3 live in a place that experienced a multi-day heatwave.
ð§ (https://www.myclimatejourney.co/cc-episodes/bill-weihl-climatevoice) (https://nori.com/podcasts/reversing-climate-change/S2E74-Sanitation-and-EJ-concerns-grow-with-climate-changew-Catherine-Coleman-Flowers–MacArthur-Genius-e155l7p) WATER AND CIVILIZATION: RESILIENCE AND COLLAPSE (https://www.climateone.org/audio/water-and-civilization-resilience-and-collapse) Water is essential for life, and throughout human history we have sought to control and make use of it. As Giulio Boccaletti explores in his new book, Water: A Biography, that relationship with water has underpinned human civilization, forming an integral part of society, government and land use systems. But despite humanityâs accomplishments in âreplumbing the planet,â we remain at its mercy, whether we think so or not, Boccaletti says..
ð§ Sharing mobility: competing or completing public transport in cities? (https://player.fm/series/metropolitan-mobility-podcast/sharing-mobility-competing-or-completing-public-transport-in-cities-new-essay-tu-of-delft-with-monica-van-luven-and-stavros-xanthopoulos) Is sharing mobility competing or completing public transport in cities? New essay (https://nielsvanoort.weblog.tudelft.nl/files/2021/08/CIE5825-Assignment-2.pdf) with many practical examples with Monica van Luven, Stavros Xanthopoulos and assistant prof Niels van Oort, from the Smart Public Transport Lab of Delft University of Technology. This is a really fantastic episode with good examples where mobility tech can help, but also where it hasn’t, and the takeways we can apply.
ð§ Climate Tech Brings in $16 Billion. Where’s It Going? (https://player.fm/series/series-1686960/climate-tech-brings-in-16-billion-wheres-it-going) In the world of venture capital, climate tech is about as hot as it gets. In the first two quarters of 2021, climate tech companies raised $16B from VCs. New designated funds are announced regularly, startup valuations are sky high, and times are frothy. It’s never been a better time to be a climate tech entrepreneur.
Don’t forget, if you’re looking around, there’s a list of podcasts maintained by CATs (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dCxRnSdgJYehTkPlMA9lNVfw7C9m-mTb2FtIxnbH6AI/edit#gid=0) .
