Hey CATs!
COMMUNITY UPDATES
ð Our CAT Salon event series is coming back soon after a well deserved summer break. Keep an eye out on our MeetUp and the #cat-salon channel. ð¬ Weâve set a few new rules in our #cat-roulette channel. Once you join, youâll be matched 1:1 bi-weekly with another CAT in the channel. Next matches go out on Sep 10! ð We shuffled a few bits around in our volunteering structure (check out our How we organize page on Outline for more info). ð The IPCC reading group is meeting on Sep 9! More info in #academia-research. Hope you’re staying safe this week. ð Another month, another set of CATs we’re grateful for. Scroll to the bottom of this email to see our monthly list of thank you’s to fellow CATS volunteering, providing financial support, helping garden the knowledge base.
If you want to help out others, check out a task on our âNeeds volunteersâ column on our volunteering Trello board (https://trello.com/b/C8vPpwJD/cat-volunteering) .

** ð¬ CAT Events
CAT welcome callsâ TRANSFORMATION to âCAT Coffee
Weâre making a slight change to our welcome calls as well as rebranding them âCAT Coffeeâ.
CAT Coffee events are regular, open opportunities to mingle, share ideas, discuss things or just meet other CAT members. The topics weâll discuss will vary at every event depending on who shows up! Any CAT member can join - you don’t need to be new to drop in!
At the beginning of the event thereâll be an optional 10m presentation where you can learn more about the CAT community and weâll end with and an optional 15m chat where you can learn more about volunteering in the CAT community.
Weâll use our #cat-coffee channel (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/CN459CBN3) to share resources & links during and after the CAT coffee event
Sign up via meetup (https://www.meetup.com/cat-global/events/)
CAT Salon ⢠1h Our “CAT Salons” are regular, thematic community discussions. We start with an 8-10 minute presentation from a lead discussant to level-set our conversation. This is then followed by 45 minutes of facilitated community interaction on the topic. We run our Salons in western-friendly and eastern-friendly timezones.
Join our Meetup group (https://www.meetup.com/cat-global/events/) to get notified for the next CAT Salon
Catch up on our past Salons on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbGj6AM6oTSxqBlhMQlaplw/videos)
:doughnut: CAT Roulette - 30mins - whenever you find a time
We’re continuing our programme of letting members connect to 1 other CAT member every second week for a nice beverage and chat about climate and tech. It’s a nice way to get to know other CATs, and you can start and stop at any time. Joining the #cat-roulette (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/C0202J3UYG7) channel to learn more.
