Sustainababble #237: FOOD WASTE (http://www.sustainababble.fish/?p=1446) It is bonkers that so much effort, land, water & energy is used to make so much food that never goes in anyoneâs gob. Bonkers and, as babble listener Alysia points out, VERY planety-imperilly. STATE OF THE UNIONS: NAVIGATING JOB CREATION AND DESTRUCTION (https://www.climateone.org/audio/state-unions-navigating-job-creation-and-destruction) Transitioning to renewable energy is an essential, and massive, part of addressing the climate emergency. But that transition will bring major disruption to the fossil fuel industry. A large coal or nuclear power plant can employ hundreds of people, while solar or wind farms, once operational, typically employ a couple dozen or fewer. Green jobs have also typically been nonunion, paying less than fossil fuel jobs. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median wage for a solar installer is about $45,000 a year, while a skilled worker at a coal plant may make $82,000 a year. T (https://www.canarymedia.com/podcasts/catalyst-with-shayle-kann/catalyst-podcast-why-the-chemicals-industry-is-one-of-the-toughest-to-decarbonize) he Catalyst podcast - (https://www.climatefinance.xyz/) Catalyst podcast: The many pathways to decarbonizing chemicals Chemicals might be the most daunting industrial sector to decarbonize, but a wide range of approaches could transform the sector. To talk through them, Shayle turned to industrial emissions guru Rebecca Dell (https://www.climateworks.org/people/rebecca-dell/) , the program director for industry at ClimateWorks Foundation. Climate Finance Podcast (https://www.climatefinance.xyz/episodes/alexandra-wright-gladstein) - Why Fossil Fuel Free Funds instead of ESG Funds?
