The Harlow Mystery series now available in paperback! Dec. 10th 2024 Newsletter
Hello, readers!
It’s December! Also known as…
The most wonderful time of the year~!
I had to put that in there. The Christmas holidays are among my favourite, since I get to spend a lot more time with family and indulge in other Christmas traditions.
I also want to give the heads-up that today’s newsletter is the only newsletter I’m sending to you this month.
As you all may know from subscribing tot his newsletter, I typically send out newsletters every 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month. However, the upcoming 4th Tuesday of this month is Christmas Eve (the 24th)! Given this, I’ll be taking that Tuesday off from sending newsletters instead.
New newsletters will be back in January 2025!
Thanks for your patience.
The Harlow Mystery series is now available in paperback!
I’m happy to share that the Harlow Mystery series is now available in paperback format, on Amazon!
For those who wanted a paperback copy of the series, you can now get one for yourself, your loved ones, and/or fellow murder mystery readers this holiday season!
Thanks in advance for your support, and happy reading!
What Am I Writing Lately?
I mentioned, in the last newsletter, that I started writing a standalone fantasy adventure/comedy book.
I’m going to be honest: I didn’t really work on writing this one a lot, during the past few weeks. I believe I may just be exhausted from drafting and/or completing the writing of 17 books in a year, which doesn’t help. Because of this, I just decided to take a couple weeks off from writing - and instead worked on a lot of other not-writing-but-writing-related items over those weeks instead, such as setting up the Harlow Mystery paperback books!
I also have no idea when I’ll be finishing this one - and there’s a high chance I may put it on hiatus as an incomplete first draft. We’ll see how things go.
Meanwhile, I have a lot of cool announcements that I’ll share in January 2025, on my main website’s blog (likely in the usual monthly writing update). Stay tuned for details!
What Have I Done Other Than Writing Lately?
I started creating the cover for “Nostalgiacore,” one of my poetry chapbooks that has its writing completely done. I earlier considered trying to get it published by a small press. However, after thinking about it a bit more, I decided that I’d prefer self-publishing it. I don’t have a set release date for this one yet. However, it’ll probably be published sometime in 2026 based on what I already have in store for 2025.
In the past few weeks, I also have:
Updated the content of my books “Winner Takes All,” “Engagement To Die For,” and “Bloody Fantasia!” The beauty of being an indie author means that you can keep your books up-to-date on author bios and links to your other books on the back of the books.
Set up the paperback copies of said above books! This included designing the covers of the paperbacks (yes I did it myself), getting all the appropriate ISBNs, etc.
Set up “Refilling The Well,” my upcoming poetry chapbook, for publication, including finalizing cover designs for paperback & ebook versions. More news about this will be shared in January 2025, so stay tuned for details!
What Have I Watched Lately?
I watched “Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy” on Netflix not too long ago. It’s a very intriguing documentary that discusses how companies keep customers buying their stuff - and how it’s affecting the planet. I’ve had some interest in environmentalism since I was younger, so this documentary caught my attention when it first released.
Those who have watched documentaries like “The Story Of Stuff” might already be familiar with some of the points discussed in “Buy Now.” As someone who’s watched both documentaries, I’d like to think of “Buy Now” as a companion documentary to “The Story Of Stuff,” except it specifically discusses how overconsumption has gotten worse over recent years.
What Have I Heard Lately?
This time I’m recommending the Imp and Skizz podcast!
ImpulseSV and MCSkizzleman, who are Minecraft content creators, run the podcast. Both of them discuss their experiences as content creators, and they’ve interviewed other Minecraft Youtubers about their experiences too! Even if you’re not the biggest fan of Minecraft nor watch Minecraft Youtubers often, there is a lot about the content creation that will resonate with other writers and content creators out there.
Episodes I recommend include:
“How Did We Get Here?” (the premiere episode)
“Getting Uncomfortable For Growth”
“Welcome Jimmy! Timmy?” (features SolidarityGaming as a guest)
What Have I Been Reading Lately?
One of the books that I enjoyed reading was “What You Are Looking for is in the Library” by Aoyama Michiko. It’s a collection of short stories that features various people in different walks of life. One person is figuring out their purpose in life now that they’re retired, another is a new mother trying to balance her work life and home life, and so on. However, each of their paths lead to the same library, and the one librarian who gives them a book recommendation that plays an integral role in helping them resolve their issues (or at least start working through said issues).
Other recent reads include:
“Night” by Elie Wiesel
“Clockwork Angel” by Cassandra Clare
“Moon of the Crusted Snow” by Waubgeshig Rice
“Vox” by Christina Dalcher
