The Author Interview Masterlist Is Here! Nov. 26th, 2024 Newsletter
Hello, readers!
It’s midway through November, and I’m so happy to share that I FINALLY completed the author interview masterlist!
For those who don’t know, the author interview masterlist is a project I’ve been working on since September of this year. Author interviews can be a great way to get more eyes on your book and yourself as an author in general, so I created the masterlist of platforms (Youtube channels, podcasts, websites, etc.) that are currently seeking authors to interview.
The masterlist is free to access, and will be available in the Freebie Library!
I hope that this resources is useful for all of you fellow writers! I plan to make updates to this masterlist every few months.
Nominate my books for the 2024 Indie Ink Awards!
It's award nomination season again - and all three books in the Harlow Mystery series are eligible for the 2024 Indie Ink Awards!
Last year, I was honoured to have multiple nominations in the 2023 Indie Ink Awards for my first two books in the Harlow Mystery series, "Winner Takes All" and "Engagement To Die For."
With "Bloody Fantasia" published this year, I would be happy if it also has a chance to be nominated as well!
Wondering what to nominate my books for?
Check out the categories below:
Nominations close Nov. 30th, 2024 - which is a few days from now! Cast your nominations at https://indiestorygeek.com/a/indie-ink-awards-2024 before then!
Thanks in advance for your support!
What Am I Writing Lately?
I spent more time off from writing than I thought I would this month. After all the book writing I did this year, I’m not surprised that I just had to slow down and let myself do nothing for a while.
After a few days of not writing, however, I really wanted to write something. The problem was - what energy did I have or writing? I had absolutely no mental energy to draft a novel, let alone a short story. However, I noticed that this change in energy started as soon as November began. I suspect that the changing seasons (or at least the transition to the late fall season, possibly early winter) affects me pretty easily. The same thing happened last year, too!
Fortunately, I felt like I regained energy by almost midway through this month. In fact, as of this writing, I wrote Draft #3 of “Immortalz,” my standalone LitRPG novel!
I am now also working on drafting a new standalone novel. This one will be adventure fantasy/comedy, and I’m having a lot of fun figuring out the plot so far!
What Have I Done Other Than Writing Lately?
Though I didn’t write too much this month, I did complete creating the cover for “Stay Magical,” my upcoming short story collection!
I’ll reveal the official cover when I have the release date announced - so don’t expect to hear more about this collection for a while. I do already know when I want to release this collection, but I won’t be sharing that just yet.
I also did the following:
Planned ahead for what to post in the new year (2025)
Batch-created content for the winter season (Dec. 2024-Feb. 2025)
Spread the word about my books being eligible for the 2024 Indie Ink Awards (would love for my books to be nominated again, and for “Bloody Fantasia” to get its first nominations!)
I reached over 690 followers on Bluesky! This growth was unexpected and I am very, very grateful for all of you following me over there. Thank you so much!
What Have I Heard Lately?
I know that this is usually the part of the newsletter where I recommend a podcast and/or audiobook. Unfortunately, I’ve been so busy these past few weeks that I just didn’t make time to listen to either of those!
To make up for this, I do have some music to recommend - namely, this medieval library-themed background ambience generator by MyNoise. I was just looking for background music and this seems like a pretty good way to have some background music going on (without ads!) while getting some writing done.
I will say, however, be very careful of turning the “Gregorian chant” setting to the max. I was jumpscared by the Gregorian chants suddenly while I was writing, which isn’t exactly the most helpful for writing.
What Have I Been Reading Lately?
Do you like space adventures, vampires, and found family? Good news - I recently read a book that has all three!
“Wherever The Stars Call” by S Jean (now known as Ronove) features two friends on the run from the space federation for various reasons - and they also meet a vampire along the way. Also, there are space pirates. I’m not doing a great job of describing the book’s story, but I promise that it’s a fun read.
Other recent reads include:
“The Light We Carry” by Michelle Obama
“Percy Jackson And The Olympians: Wrath Of The Triple Goddesses” by Rick Riordan
“The Ladies Rewrite The Rules” by Suzanne Allain
Heads-up: There will only be ONE newsletter next month (December 10th, 2024).
This is for the sake of keeping the upcoming winter holidays in mind for everyone (including myself). Thanks for your understanding!
Thank you for following my writing journey!
I hope you look forward to seeing more of my writing process and work. I also look forward to giving all of you more frequent updates as well, so stay tuned for more!
