Prioritizing Projects And Taking A Break From Nonfiction
Hello, readers!
It's almost the end of March - and also, almost Easter for those who celebrate!
I always enjoyed celebrating Easter. I think a reason for that is because it's associated with springtime, which is my favourite season. When it's Spring, I like to go for walks outside inbetween writing and working on other projects, and enjoy the nature out there.
What Have I Been Writing Lately?
I've been writing...well, a lot. After all the novel drafting I did in the first half of this month, I took a moment to figure out how many projects I'm currently working on. This excludes the projects that are already done, writing-wise, and are on the road to publication. "Sadie Rowe and the Missing Necklace" and "Bloody Fantasia" aren't included in this count.
...I then realized that I have ten books I'm actively working on. In fairness, two of them are part of a duology and three of them are part of the same trilogy. However, the rest are standalone novels, a short story collection, and a poetry chapbook.
After I realized exactly how many projects I'm working on, I then forced myself to take a few days to process all of what I'm doing, and then prioritize which ones I can get done sooner. I'll share more information about how I've been managing all of this in April's monthly writing update blog post on my website. Stay tuned for more info!
What Have I Heard Lately?
For my audiobook and/or podcast rec this time around, I recommend listening to Joanna Penn's "The Creative Penn Podcast For Writers."
This podcast is definitely catered to all the writers, hence the title. Again, as I mentioned before, I don't usually listen to every episode of any podcast.
Episodes I recommend include:
What Have I Been Reading Lately?
I'm going to be honest - I haven't done as much reading this month as I thought I would! Most of the books I've read in the past months are all nonfiction, and there's only so much I can read of that until I get bored of reading...which is apparently three to four months' worth of nonfiction.
I still enjoy reading nonfiction books. However, I had to take a break from reading so many of those, and also remind myself not to overload myself on nonfiction for future library trips.
Other recent reads include:
"Minecraft: The Island" by Max Brooks
"Ricky Ricotta's Mighty Robot vs. the Jurassic Jackrabbits from Jupiter" by Dav Pilkey
"The Karate Mouse" by Geronimo Stilton
"Minecraft: The Crash" by Tracey Baptiste
