Of Faeries And Chosen Ones - March. 24th, 2026
Hello, fellow readers!
Spring is here, and there’s a renewed energy in the air. Maybe it’s because the snow is finally melting or the sun shining way more often than not, but I’ve felt so much more energetic lately and I’m grateful for it.
I’ve also been putting a LOT more effort lately into making my work more visible. If you’ve seen my posts on socials more frequently, that’s why.
I also had the amazing opportunity to write a blog as part of the Why We Read project recently! That was awesome.
I’ve also been reaching out to get more author interviews, writing even more than usual, and getting a bit more experimental with my various social posts because I want my work to be viewed by more people. And speaking of being viewed more…
Authortube, here I come! 📹
I posted my first official author Youtube video that ISN’T a book trailer. Yes, I’m doing Authortube now! 😁
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little scared, but I really do want to communicate with you readers more and this seemed like a way to do it.
With quite a few fellow writers asking me about writing tips and advice and the fact that I do have six (soon to be seven!) books published, I realized that I could share my writing experiences this way and see how it goes!
Don’t expect too many longform videos a month - my aim is at least one to two videos a month for now (a minimum of one video if life gets chaotic). I hope you enjoy seeing me a bit more on camera!
What Am I Writing Lately?✍️
Faerie Manor (previously known as Faerie Hall) (working title, not confirmed)
Status: 5% drafted?
Next steps: Finish writing Draft 1
After my previous WIPs had first drafts, I accidentally wrote the first draft of what would be the prequel to Faerie Hall, my WIP that I previously put on hiatus back in early February/late January. At the time of putting Faerie Hall on hiatus, I was discouraged by how “doom-and-gloom” it got with its tone.
However…writing the prequel story changed that completely. After I finished Draft #1 of the prequel story, I immediately started rewriting/replotting Faerie Hall. I’m still writing Draft #1 right now, but I’m confident that it can be done by the end of May 2026!
Also, the book is now called Faerie Manor because the titular location changed its name. ✨ This is still a working title and not confirmed.
Oh No, We're The Chosen Ones! (working title, not confirmed)
Status: 5% drafted?
Next steps: Finish writing Draft 1
Meanwhile, I also recalled an old book idea I had, inspired by a combination of The House In The Cerulean Sea, The Hobbit, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and the CBBC fantasy gameshow Raven. It didn’t have a title at the time, but now it’s called Oh No, We're The Chosen Ones!
This is a fantasy book where you have the three FORMER Chosen Ones training NEW Chosen Ones to achieve defeating a new villain. The twist? The former Chosen Ones have never mentored anyone before. Hilarity ensues.
I tried to find that old file…and couldn’t find it. I don’t know if I accidentally deleted it, or if I misplaced it in a different USB from the many USBs I’ve used for backing up my files, but it’s gone! 😱 I immediately jotted down what I could remember of the plot, characters, and dialogue (which wasn’t a lot, to my ire).
Despite this, I believe this new version will be way better than I originally had in mind. I’m glad about that. 😊
I’ve also talked about this WIP quite a bit on Bluesky, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how much positive reception it’s gotten so far! It’s given me much more motivation to focus on this WIP more than Faerie Manor, but I’m doing my best to focus on more
Other writing-related activities I did recently include:
Got MORE author interviews done - one won’t be out until June, unfortunately, but the other one should be published online hopefully sooner than later!
Did some minor website updates! Reorganized the menu, mainly.
What Am I Reading Lately?
I read a lot of nonfiction, but I also did stock up on books during Smashwords’ Read An Ebook Week sale that happened earlier this month. I also went on a library trip, so that gave me plenty of books to read!

One of my favourite reads was It's Okay Not to Get Along with Everyone by Dancing Snail. This book is a series of short, illustrated essays on relationships and self-love.
Other books I read include:
Written On The Dark by Guy Gavriel Kay
Hashtag Authentic: Finding creativity and building a community on Instagram and beyond by Sara Tasker
Welcome to the Rabbit Residence: A Seek-and-Find Story by Haluka Nohana
Is It Spring? by Kevin Henkes
I also watched Florence Given’s video about how sometimes, you can’t reach excellence without going through making some mistakes and embarrassing yourself - and that’s okay.
