How Many Copies Of My Books Have I Sold? 📚 - May 12th, 2026 Newsletter
Hello, readers!
I started off May with someone asking me exactly how many copies of my books that I’ve sold overall. Not how much money I made, but how many total copies of my books? 📚 🤔
It then occurred to me that I had absolutely no idea at the time, so I immediately checked how many copies of each of my books I’d sold (not including Found since it’s not published yet as of this writing) from 2022 (when I first started self-publishing books) to most recently overall (I did the count back on May 6th, 2026, so I’m not counting anything for Found right now).
Overall, Engagement To Die For (The Harlow Mystery series, Book 2) is the winner with over 200 copies sold (majority of the sales being through Itch.io)! 😮Apparently a lot of you readers REALLY wanted to read murder mysteries taking place on a train! 😆
Meanwhile, my kidlit fantasy book Sadie Rowe And The Missing Necklace sold the least…with 3 copies. 😅
I learned that my main audience skews towards adult readers quite heavily. It’s good for me to know, because it helps me decide which future projects of mine are more likely to get published first.
Out of the three genre categories I’ve published in (fantasy, mystery, and poetry), it’s mystery did the best overall, and fantasy has done the worst.😅 Even my poetry sold even more than my fantasy books right now!
In fairness, both fantasy books that I DO have published are YA fantasy and/or kidlit chapter book fantasy books, and not currently-popular subgenres (such as romantasy for example) that align with adult readers. HOPEFULLY Found’s publication can up the numbers a bit on the fantasy side despite it also being a YA fantasy short story collection since it’s much darker than my other published fantasy works so far.
Found will be published on May 18th, 2026!

My YA fantasy short story collection Found is currently available for preorder! ✨
Thank you to everyone who’s preordered a copy of Found so far! I really appreciate the support and I hope you enjoy reading it when it’s published.
If you want to read dark fairytale retellings with happy endings, then you’ll enjoy reading this one! Spread the word to fellow YA fantasy readers who would love this as well!
Also, THANK YOU to all of the ARC readers that have left reviews for Found so far! It warms my heart to read all of the wonderful reviews and support for this book on Goodreads and the Storygraph recently.
Mark Your Calendars For Canada Fiction Fest! 📆 🍁
Canada Fiction Fest is an online showcase run by N.P. Thompson that features ALL CANADIAN writers, from traditionally-published to self-published authors like myself! Think of it as a GIANT VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR, but every author is Canadian.
This is a great opportunity to discover some Canadian authors you might not have heard of before and also support all of us! Please go check out Fiction Fest when it’s live starting on June 21st, 2026!
There will also be some online panels/webinars taking place during the Fiction Fest. I might be participating in one of those. We’ll see if I get selected for a panel/webinar first! 😁
Books I’m Writing Lately ✍️
Faerie Manor
Status: First draft is 100% writen! 🎉
Next steps: Put aside and come back to it later for edits/Draft 2.
I FINISHED WRITING DRAFT 1 OF Faerie Manor! 🎉
Earlier in late April/very early May, I was not happy with how the first draft is going and even considered dropping the project entirely. However, as a fellow writing friend advised me, I can’t edit it if there’s nothing on the page. So, I took her advice and got that first draft done as of May 2nd 2026! 🎉
I can already see that there will be a lot that I need to edit going into Draft 2 of this book. However, I am glad that I just finally got this first draft DONE since starting this project back in January 2026.
Oh No, We’re The Chosen Ones!
Status: 16% written?
Next steps: Continue drafting?
Meanwhile, I made absolutely no progress on Oh No, We’re The Chosen Ones! I hope to make up for this lack of progress during the latter half of this month.
I’ll be honest, though: I have NO idea when I’ll get Draft 1 done. At the snail’s pace I’m going at with it, it might even take me up until the end of this summer. 😅 I’d like to get Draft 1 written much sooner than that.
Writing-Related Things I’ve Done Lately:
Scripting and filming more videos for my Author Youtube Channel! I’m occupied with promoting Found being published right now, so my next longform video won’t be up until much later this month.
However, I finished recording one video for June 2026, and wrote the script for the second video for June 2026! I’ll be recording the second video AFTER Found is officially published since it’s all about my experiences with working with ARC readers! I also might get a head-start on July 2026’s videos by the end of this month too...we’ll see.
A poem of mine, Home, was published in Word Tonic’s Creative Writing Anthology, Issue 11, back on May 4th 2026! 🏡The theme of this anthology was “At Home.” You can check it out here!
Designing the cover for my poetry collection Sonnets of the Seasons! Surprisingly this wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be, which I’m grateful for. 😁
Formatting Sonnets of the Seasons’ manuscript for eventual publication. This poetry collection won’t be out until sometime in 2027, but I gotta get prepared NOW.
What Am I Reading Lately?
I banned myself from reading self-help books for a while. I’ve been focusing so much on professional and self-development to the point that it was getting overwhelming. I would be reading email newsletters and Instagram posts about improving myself throughout the day, and then going to bed reading even more books about self-improvement.
I thought that I was doing a good thing, to improve myself for the better. There are some benefits from reading the perspectives of others on how to make positive change for yourself. However, constantly forcing yourself to change without checking to see if this actually works for you can be extremely tiring. Sometimes you just want to just be, and savour the moment.
Given all of this, I decided to ban myself from reading self-help books for a short while so I can actually read more fiction, poetry, and non-self-help-related nonfiction. It’s been a good break for sure.
Books I read include:
Try Hard: Creative Work in Progress by Max Kerman
The Astonishing Lives of Older Women: How to Create Pleasure Over Peril in Peak Longevity by Moira Welsh
Pocket Peaches: Game On (Volume 3) by Dora Wang
Small Beneath The Sky by Lorna Crozier
