A Sequel Mystery Series and Fiction Fest Panels!?- May 26th, 2026 Newsletter
Hello, readers!
It’s been a very eventful past two weeks for me writing-wise. I’ll just dive into what needs to be shared immediately since there is so much to cover!
Thank you for reading Found!✨

Found was published last week on May 18th, 2026, and I’m INCREDIBLY grateful for everyone that’s grabbed a copy and left reviews on Goodreads and the Storygraph recently. Thank you to ALL of you!
If you want to read dark fairytale retellings with happy endings, then you’ll enjoy reading this one! Spread the word to fellow YA fantasy readers who would love this as well!
Mark Your Calendars For Canada Fiction Fest! 📆 🍁
Canada Fiction Fest is an online showcase run by N.P. Thompson that features ALL CANADIAN writers, from traditionally-published to self-published authors like myself! Think of it as a GIANT VIRTUAL BOOK FAIR, but every author is Canadian.
There will also be some online panels/webinars taking place during the Fiction Fest…AND I’M TAKING PART IN TWO OF THEM! 🎉

The first one I’m participating in is on June 23rd called “General Discussion: What Made You Want to Write? How do You Stay Creative? Etc.” This is a panel discussion generally talking about our creative writing lives!

The second one I’m participating in is on June 24th is a session of Author Readings (fantasy fiction!) and that means I’ll be reading from one of my fantasy books (and same goes for the three other authors taking part in it).
Also, there will be 34 other panels going on during the entirety of Fiction Fest, which is a lot. XD I’ll be attending the ones I can, and I believe replays will be available on their Youtube channel after the initial stream!
This is a great opportunity to discover some Canadian authors you might not have heard of before and also support all of us! Please go check out Fiction Fest when it’s live starting on June 21st, 2026!
Books I’m Writing Lately ✍️
Untitled Harlow Mystery Sequel Series Book 1
Status: Approximately 7% drafted (1/14 chapters drafted)
Next steps: Continue drafting
Yep, you read this right: I’m writing a SEQUEL SERIES to the Harlow Mystery series! 🎉
For those unaware, the Harlow Mystery series made up my first three published books ever. They’re also what my readers picked up the most out of all my books as I discovered when counting how many
I wasn’t initially planning on writing a sequel series. However, I literally woke up one morning earlier this month with the ideas in my head and I KNEW I had to go for it.
Though this project is in VERY early development right now, I do have a few key details in mind while writing:
Aria Hawthorn (Aubri Harlow’s twin sister) is the main heroine!
Given that this is a sequel series, there will be references to the previous events of the Harlow Mystery series. However, I do hope to write it in a way that doesn’t 100% require readers to read the previous series if they don’t want to do so.
Another funny thing I noticed while writing Book 1 is that I’m writing it backwards. I already know how the ending will go! 😆
Oh No, We’re The Chosen Ones!
Status: 100% drafted! 🎉 (26/26 chapters)
Next steps: Put aside for and (EVENTUALLY) write Draft 2.
Remember how I mentioned that I made no progress on Oh No, We’re The Chosen Ones a few weeks ago? Well…
I’m happy to share NOW that I FINISHED WRITING DRAFT 1 JUST LAST WEEK! 🎉
The unfortunate part is that many of these chapters what I’d call skeleton drafts. That means that I have the main elements of each chapter written down, but they’re not fully developed yet.
Developing these chapters further will happen when I get to Draft 2 of this project. I already suspect that it’ll need many edits... 😅 However, a finished draft is a finished draft regardless of the state that it’s in!

Other Writing-Related Work I’ve Done Lately:
Scheduled some socials for June!
I’ll be having less social posts published this June, partially to recover from all the posting I did for promoting Found’s recent publication.
Preparing for Canada Fiction Fest!
What Am I Reading Lately?
I actually didn’t read too much during the past few weeks. Mainly because of the writing I’ve done for my WIPs, but also because of all the book promo I did for Found as well as other work that needed to be done both online and offline. However, I did squeeze in some time inbetween writing and promo to read the following books:
Storm Front (Dresden Files, Book #1) by Jim Butcher
Make Believe: On Telling Stories to Children by Mac Barnett
Nightmare Obscura by Michelle Carr
