trying to die more slowly than yesterday
Hi everyone,
I was reminded last night that this form of communication, the email list, was a preferred method of getting direct news in this world of over saturated social communication. So here is what's new since we last spoke.
In January the wonderful label Patient Sounds released a work of mine on cassette called "A Sad Study in Temporal Dissonance" Its a work of 10 shorter pieces (5-10min each) that explore the passage of time of a light speed journey to our nearest star. It was recorded at my apartment during 2016 and mastered by Andrew Weathers in late 2017. Give it a listen and do explore the rest of the Patient Sounds catalog, everything they release I highly recommend.
I answered the 4 usesthis.com questions recently. If you were ever interested in a very detailed breakdown of the tools I use to make the noises its all there. I again implore you to explore many of the interviews on that site as its really fun and interesting to see how and with what people create all different kinds of art with.
Some local news, if you are in Chicago, I have a show coming up next week (saturday 5/5) at a space called Orotund Sound. I will be doing a solo bass/laptop set with visuals by Sci Fi Mascara( Sara Goodman) and Str1ke (Ted Pallas). Should be a cool night of improv jams.
In the next few months the excellent label Scripts will be releasing a CD of 3 pieces that Akosuen and I recorded at ESS last march. Its improvised guitar(me) and violin and voice (Akosuen). We are very excited about how it all turned out and cant wait to share it. Keep an eye on their site (or any of our sites) for updates! (like I think we will have a "release show" on Sunday 7/29 at Elastic but you didn't hear that from me...)
As a bonus for reading this whole email here is a link to a work I'm calling "sustain / sustain" that I just had mastered and hope to release soon.
