Time and Things 2022
Hello
happy new year! as happy and as new as it can be i guess.
here's some news
1) toward the end of last year a friend invited me to start streaming on this site called Blast. its kinda neat, i can broadcast pretty quickly from my computer or even directly from an instrument. the "blasts" are kept on my profile for 24hrs. i like the ephemeralness of it. i've mostly posted me practicing guitar or mixing new work. i'm going to try and consistently post on wednesday evenings at minimum. i dont like talking but if anyone requests i could be coerced into talking about ideas or gear or whatever.
2) remember this tinyletter email from 2 years ago. well i finally went back to ESS this autumn and mixed those recordings. I just sent them off to Duplication Canada and should get the batch of 50 back in about 6-8 weeks. the tape will be called "10 becomes a dozen" as it will now mark 12 years of releasing music instead of 10. just like that first tape it will come in a hand painted j-card. keep an eye on my bandcamp to order it. most likely around early march.
here's the only photo i remembered to take during the recording session:
3) way back in march of last year Waxing Crescent messaged me to ask if I wanted to release something on their new label. due to moving house and general (waves arms around at everything/pandemic) i totally dropped the ball. I finally finished 6 pieces last month and so keep an eye on that bandcamp for a CD release called "Disappear" sometime this spring/summer 2022. as a teaser here is the titles of the pieces:
2 A Quick Retelling (for Glenn Branca)
3 No Moon on a Cloudy Planet
4 Gray Cloud Washbucket
5 Slippery Slope Waltz
6 Anthill Glacier
as i mentioned above i've moved and that was a whole thing but now Dr Pirate's Ship has a permanent and much more appropriate space. one not limited by neighbors above or below. and i'm finally getting back into a decent headspace of creating. i have like a bunch of Mirror of Nature tracks that need some guitar so that's my next focus. and after that maybe more collaborations?!? or a record based on radio samples as i'm hooked on how easy that is to do on the OP-1 (my newest toy)!?!
thanks for listening. i hope you are all doing well.
