summer update, new tape, other fun stuff

Hello all,

I hope this note finds you well. I just wanted to let you all know about a new tape that was released yesterday on the wonderful Chicago label Lurker Bias. It's called "do better" and is 2 20min long tracks that meditate on the idea of improvement. (its also an homage to my favorite titled Oval track "do while").

You can order the tape (9 left as of this writing) or the download from here: https://lurkerbias.bandcamp.com/album/do-better

I also still have some CD copies of "Movement of an Old Soul" which Aquarius records said some nice stuff about:
The folks at Time Released Sound definitely have a thing for music boxes. They even released a record that came with a built-in music box, and included an original composition for said music box! How cool is that? And we can't say that we blame them, there's definitely something about music boxes, their lilting melodies, their distinctive timbre, and here on Movement Of An Old Soul the sound of the music box is woven into soft focus fields of effected pianos, field recordings, and all manner of smeared sound. It's definitely a perfect fit on TRS, the actual music box sound dialed back a bit, so it's tough to tell what instrument is making what sound, instead it's a gloriously indistinct assemblage of soft sounds, a lush, pastoral, organic drift, that manages to be both delicately and exquisitely crafted, and yet seemingly utterly amorphous.

Not many other summer plans yet. If you are in Chicago I believe a new project I'm in with Neil Jendon and Mike Weis will have our first live show in Sept. at Transistor. More details about that later.

Thanks for listening.
