Static Sphere of Glowing Silence
While slowly falling in and out sleep and listening to some music, I dreamed about this floating sphere. It consumed sound like a black hole consumes light. I continually thought about this sphere over the next few months, wanting to make some kind of music about it.
Over the past year I've had weeks of recording daily followed by weeks of not picking up my guitar at all. When winter came around and I decided to go through those recordings and found about 9 things that i didn't hate. The 9 pieces seemed related but collectively were too long for one release. So I broke them up into a series of 3 EP's each with 3 songs.
Having missed collaborations over the past year I decided to have each EP mastered by a different person.
Part 1 was done by Andrew Weathers
Part 2 was done by Angel Hair Audio
Part 3 was done by Edward Hamel
And to tie all three together I asked Tiny Little Hammers to make the cover art, who's work on many of the Astral Spirits covers I have greatly admired.

Other things that I worked on since our last message:
Arcane Object which was a collaboration between myself and the label Arcane Object. The label focuses on very intricate physical releases focused around the cassette tape. The music had to use cassette tapes in the creation so I pulled out my first 4-track recorder that I bought in 1999. Side one is unedited 2 take guitar improv. For side 2 I recorded a lot of loops and ideas onto each track, flipping the tape over randomly, messing with the tape speed. I then dumped that all into the computer and edited down. Its more chaotic than the drones on side one but I think they compliment each other. The label made amazing packaging for the tape, using leaves to make paper to wrap the tapes. As of this email there is 1 tape left, but if I ever see you in person I have some that we could trade with!
