Spring 2014 releases

Hello All,

I hope this note finds you well. I wanted to update you on a few things that have happened so far this year.

First, on Valentines day the wonderful netlabel Subterranean Tide released "Reign Water". It's an EP I worked on over the early part of this winter, when I still had hope that it wouldn't be the WORST CHICAGO WINTER in a very long time. Its all layered synthesizer and no guitars, if you are at all interested in that kind of thing. It's FREE and do yourself a favor and poke around the rest of the releases on SubTide, all top notch stuff and I'm honored to be in such great company.

My friend in Montreal, Le Berger, organized a remix of the album that is worth checking out, and also FREE!

Second,  I finally released "A House Once Lived that Never Was". I started recording this a month or so after finishing Stereo Stasis in 2012 and finished the recording and mixing at the end of the summer of 2013. At that point I gave it to Joe Panzner to master it and he made it sound just beautiful! It was recorded using a borrowed acoustic guitar and a microphone plugged into a tape delay. No crazy computer effects.

A few kind words have been spilled about it. Justin Snow over at Anti-gravity Bunny wrote:

"...as organic as Mountains used to be and as heartfelt as Andrew Weathers, taking a guitar and a tape delay and coaxing out the softest most delicate sounds, looped & dusty, droned & drifty..."

Richard Allen at A Closer Listen  adds:

"These small, gentle tracks, an hour and a half in total, lead us quietly through the year with peace and muted grace."

The release comes as a digital download with a zine of 24 photos that my wife and I took over the month of December 2013. Thanks to the help of my friend Nickd there are 20 printed color copies of the zine (a PDF of the zine is included in the download). This printed edition of the zine comes in a wax sealed handmade vellum envelope in an addition of 20, and as of this writing 9 remain.

Lastly, I was honored to be asked by Natalie Chami (1/3 of the excellent drone outfit Good Willsmith) to contribute a track to the netlabel/collective Screaming Claws. The track is "An Angels Wings are too Thin to See (slight return)" and is a edited mix from samples I saved during the show at ESS last december. I am hoping to release the full piece later this year. Again I am humbled and honored to be included with so many other fine musicians.

A few local shows are shaping up for this summer. I may not email you about them so keep an eye on twitter (@cinchel) or facebook (cinchelmusic) for any updates/invites.

That is all. Thankyou for your time. Please enjoy the rest of your day.
