WOW! We only have THREE MORE DAYS left of this absolutely monumental kickstarter, which is already changing history… at least, the history of our film, D(e)ad! Because thanks to you, we’ve been able to do some re-shoots for the film!!
What are we reshooting? What are reshoots?!?? Hey, hey!! Deep breaths!
When you shoot a feature-length movie for as little money as we did and shoot for as few days as we did, well, you miss some things! You get cocky and say, “We can just get this super artistic, risky type of shot, we don’t need coverage of every actor in their own single shot!” And sometimes… you’re wrong! You should’ve gotten that coverage. Or, completely theoretically, let’s say a certain someone’s grandma went to a particularly *fun* dinner and took a *tumble* on the mean streets of Brentwood, scraping up half of her entire face a few days before your last day of principal photography, making it so you could only shoot her from one very weird-looking angle during the climactic fight scene at the end of the movie…IF THAT HAPPENED—it would be nice to reshoot!! So we did! ALREADY!
Our unbelievably talented cinematographer, AJ Young, has swooped right back in to get the shots we need, including stunning exteriors! Our perfect producers, Erin Dellorso and Julianne Dowler, have slid right back into production like no time passed whatsoever! One half of our beautiful sound mix team, Bryce Stephens, came in and was adorable to get my grandparents ad-libbing with an amount of energy that made us say, “Where was this when we shot the entire movie, guys?”
It’s insanely fun and fulfilling to be able to put real fine touches on this movie, thanks to every single dollar and share from every single backer from every one of you! We’re kicking it into high gear to get this movie in for the late submission to Sundance! Fingers crossed I get to meet Lisa Barlow.
